No Surfing but can chat?

Recently, my sister's PC which has a wireless internet connection connected to my PC has been giving me this problem.

 

The wireless link is strong and everything is normal. The only thing she can't do is open a browser and surf the net. MSN can be opened and she can download and upload files as per nomal but the Internet Explorer can't work. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox from my PC and installed it in hers but web pages still won't open.

 

Any one with any suggestions?

If you suspect , there may be a possible virus blocking your browser from accesing certain sites , you can go to your hosts file at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC . Use notebook to open the hosts file and check if it is inundated with various sites . If it is , clear them all and save . Try using your browser after this.

 

If u using IE7 , you can reset it back to factory settings by going to the properties and clicking on Advanced and reset . Using earlier versions , you have to do it at Control Panel - remove / add Windows components .

 

If you suspect u cannot connect to say Singnet , try pinging them at Start - Run - ping 165.21.83.88 -t to check if you getting a stable connection.
