Hi guys, I'm considering a hornet cb600f and fazer 600 naked. But both are equally good and price wise is very competitive. I've work out some findings as a background to facilitate the discussion. Could u give me some advise/feedback on their pros and cons e.g. technical specs, fuel consumption, price, value for money etc. thanks :)

Hornet 600 (2007):

Price - $14,960 (machine price w/o abs)

Engine type - CBR600RR7 derived engine, Liquid-cooled 4-stroke 16-valve DOHC inline-4

Fuel system - Injection

Transmission - 6-speed

Front Suspension - 41mm inverted telescopic fork, 109mm axle travel

Rear Suspension - Monoshock damper with 7-step adjustable preload, 128mm axle travel

Front Brake Type - dual hydraulic disc with dual piston callipers

Rear Brake Type - dual hydraulic disc with single piston callipers

Fuel Tank Capacity - 19 litres (inclusive 4L reserve)

Seat Height - 800mm

Dry Weight - 173kg

Fuel consumption - about 17km/l

Power - 100bhp

Colour - Black, Blue, Red and Gold/yellow

Verdict - Honda has given us a new Honda CB600F Hornet for 2007. The only similarity to the old model is the name; it’s an entirely new bike running the same engine as their current CBR600RR. It shares the old Honda CB600F Hornet's qualities, it's easy to ride; great handling and fun. The new Honda CB600F Hornet should appeal to wide audience with its funky styling.

Fazer 600 (2007):

Price - $11,500 for naked and $12,000 for fairing (machine price w/o abs)

Engine type - R6 derived engine, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC inline-4

Fuel system - Injection

Transmission - 6-speed

Front Suspension - 43mm telescopic fork

Rear Suspension - Swingarm (Linkless type Monocross)

Front Brake Type - dual disc

Rear Brake Type - single disc

Fuel Tank Capacity - 19.4 litres (inclusive 3.5L reserve)

Seat Height - 975mm

Dry Weight - 180kg

Fuel consumption - about 19 - 21km/l

Power - 90bhp

Colour - Black, White, Silver and Blue

Verdict - Yamaha came up with this new alternative and it slots perfectly into the modern market. The Yamaha FZ6 Fazer looks sharp, has a brilliant motor, excellent handling and offers huge versatility. Towns, twisties and long treks… it can do it all. A great all-rounder.

The so-called new honda looks very similar to the current kawasaki Z750/Z1000. Bordering on plagiarsm in fact. Think the yamaha more stylo. But i think honda wins hands down in terms of reliability and agent support. Just my opinion.

Though I personally like the looks of a Hornet :cheeky:,

I would very much prefer some protection from the wind blast.

If you're seriously considering between these two bikes only,

the Fazer 600 would no doubt provide a more comfortable ride.

It has front-head fairings, EFI, underseat exhausts, main stand etc.

Maybe you should also consider getting 2nd hand bikes?

New bikes (esp. Class 2 ones) really depreciate a LOT in a span of a few months/yrs. o_O

Alas, a bike is still a bike - fulltime transport and the occasional thrill.

haven actually decide cos no time to go down to the shop to physically see them. But based on my previous experience with super4, I somehow feel quite comfortable with the handling and not sure if fazer will be the same.

based on both specs, I think for an extra $1500, I will go for Hornet cos they offers better specs like inverted fork, double disc for rear brake and lighter in weight. plus what u said is true - better resale value.

:thumb: but I wun be getting so soon. Must wait for a while till both price stabilised first, and fazer 08 is not here yet too.

btw, just called boon siew today to check the price for hornet 600, was quoted about $14960 machine price. Roughly about $17k+ otr.

Both prices seems to be very competitive, but my only concern is fuel consumption. Based on the old hornet version was about 17km/l while fazer offers 20km/l. That will be a difference of 57km per tank.
