From AMK to CBD to Jurong I've rode conservatively. So when I reached this stretch of road that runs along Lakeside, I let it ripped, well just a little, afterall it's a 150cc transport bike. While I was enjoying the cool cleaner air, I wasn't paying too much attention to the speed, a few seconds later, a speed trap flashed behind me. I'm scare now that I'll be prosecuted in court if I went over the speed limit by 40 to 50 km/h under the DIPS.

Just an update. I received THE letter from TP requesting driver's particulars. Whew! just 4 points for 1 to 20 km/h over the limit of 70 km/h. I've learnt my lesson.

Maybe have been posted on this cbf 150 thread before, our speedo is slower by 5 km/h at around 80 km/h. I found out this while I glanced over to the dashboard of a civic (current model). The big white digital reading showed 80 when I was at 85 km/h and we're side by side for more than 3 seconds.

When I was at 110 km/h, my friend's Integra was only 100 km/h. The GPS in the car also read 100 km/h. This little experement was done at NSH.

Dear Fellow riders,

most of us have been experiencing some form of problem with our clutch engagement. I have been trying unsuccesfully to get Boon Siew to acknowledge this problem.

Yesterday, I visited them and had a very long session with their executives to iron out this. After all the "blah blah blah" and answers that sounded like " it is normal" , " this is the characteristic of CBF 150 " , we concluded. According to Boon Siew, clutch problem is rare for this bike and there are few complaints.

So what I request from you, My Fellow CBF 150 Riders, We need to unite on this issue. We all know that the bike has a problem with the clutch in terms of shifting gears and finding "neutral"

We need to unify and call this no . 62105099 and look for Toh and tell him of your clutch problems. Please update here of your conversation. I will be compiling this so as to engage them in another round to hopefully force them to do a "recall" of the bikes to rectify the problem.

:bouncefire:SO ALL CBF 150 RIDERS, ITS TIME TO TAKE A STANCE AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. PLEASE DON'T SHY AWAY. I NEED THE SUPPORT OF YOU GUYS TO GET THIS DONE.:dot:

Sorry Biposto. My clutch works just fine. But I have another big problem with my bike. Reading the first few entries of this thread, all mentioned about reaching 400km++ before hitting reserve. Merboy with his nanoballs and revtec hot 500km!! MY BIKE hits slight above 300km already need to go to reserve!! What is up with my bike? Something leaking or anything?

it all depends on how u ride, mine sometimes 400km hit reserve, sometimes 380km. FC should be in the range of 35 to 40. anything more means you are riding long distance everyday and riding long distance daily will have better FC

Hi Ladder,

the next time Merboy tops up, watch him, its how much you top up, also as Pika says riding style plays a big part. Merboy is very relaxed rider, he flips upl every gear smoothly and seldom drags each gear.

At the end of the day, you got to decide fuel economy or performance, usually it would be difficult to have both.

If you drag every gear to the max just to get the torquey feelm then expect about 300 ++ km oer full tank.

just my observation.

Hi I'm not sure if I've a clutch problem, earlier mine was stiff at the lever but after a while (1,000 km) I think I've either grown accustom to the stiffness or the lever is 'looser' after some use.

Also earlier on, I thought I got a gear issue. Thankfully, you guys suggested that to engage the gears succesfully, try kicking down harder when shifting down and it works.

I like to help but I've little clue. Maybe you can identify the problem to me on my (or your's) bike so that I can approach BS.

i have no problems with my clutch.

maybe some clarification pls?

on the whole, my cbf has been with me for 2 years now, clocking 50,000 kms

i have not encountered any problems.:cool:

I do agree boon siew staff are bad. (personal experience, they know nuts la)

i would suggest looking for own trusted mechanic elsewhere.

or if you prefer, change engine oil yourself. Lube the chain yourself too. ( i change my own spark plug)

Technically that's it !!!

then the annual carb wash, valve clearance check, occasional chain tightening

could be done at any decent workshop. Labour charges are mininal.

The thing bout FC is how you ride.

500km before reserve? check speed then. going at 60?

if anyone is doing 90 and getiing 500km before reserves,

pls share your 'secrets'...... :dot:

Just my 2cents worth.

hahaha... thanks for the compliments for my FC. its true that i stick to the speed limits of the expressways 90kmh-100kmh, sme times slpy den go 110kmh. street roads i'll go 50-75kmh. everyday at that point of time, from marsiling (with my fiancee) to sungei kadut to neythal rd, round trip will be close to 40km. regarding FC, i tink virus will haf all the answer cos i tink tat he'll travel close to 100km/ day due to his job requirement.

tips:

tyre pressure is higher than the recommended, but depending on wat kind of tyres and your safety will be at concern. filling up will try to squeeze in as much as possible. while riding try to anticipate 5-10 cars in front of you. gradually pick up to required speed. try not to upsize ur tyres. X-ring chain, revtec and nanoballs installed. maintain good riding habits. try to go on diet or get rid of extra bike weight. maintain ur bike well.

to be honest, i'm a 'hollan' king. hehe...

well said merboy.

think of it.

how many bikes boast a FC of least 40km/l with a speed of 90km/hr

with a reasonable fuel tank? (I hate having to top up gas every day or so. wave, spark etc...)

its no speedster for sure, but it zips you point to point without hassles....

BTW, anyone interested in a meet up?

30th June?
