If you have the service manual, just go through the diagnosis on engine cannot start. Each of them/us suggests a possible cause based on experiences; it's by diagnosing systematically that you solve the issue. Else you will end up spending more money than required. The error code is your best friend to point you to the issue.

hey bro! i went to republic motors cos i had the same problem, the mechanic told me that my starter is spoilt, but he quoted me $500! is the starter he said and the starter carbon you referring to the same thing? really shocked at the price difference. after that i went Plant Motors and the boss told me only my relay is spoilt which is $80. so i dont know which component is really the spoilt one.

It is either starter relay or starter carbon. I used to hav t same prob, both cannot start, both r due to relay and startet carbon.

$500 is extortion.

Sound like time to change ur magnetic coil..

Most possible is magnetic coil. Cant hold charge. Magnetic coil wear and tear is common, cost about $300 plus. Got mine for that price.

Can chop sure chop one, suggest you change starter relay first and see how. Least we minimise the faulty parts one by one.

Some faults dont really come with error code, some wear and tear. Only mechs that you know will really tell you the problem. Manual is correct which i agree but the thing is sometimes sharing experiences makes it easier to know the possible fault cos we tend to change certain items before like battery etc and when others say it could be that but we have already changed. Fault elimination is faster, i suppose

Yeah bro,Got light when I slot in the key switch and switch it to on.Sometimes can start sometimes cannot start..Got one time start, halfway through engine die prompting error 12 on the meter. But battery voltage seems ok leh 12.2V.Maybe the ampere not enough I suppose. :p

If you can come over and have a look that will be good bro.Coffee on me bro.Time at your convenience.I don want kanna chop carrot by shops.Haha.Cheers

Seeing how you can start cannot start makes me wonder if your key switch contact point could be problematic, meaning that the switch is not fully in contact with the point. Might wanna check your fuse as well, small items which gets left out from time to time.

Ask R6 rider to help you, he more pro than me

Thanks fellow riders for the advice.I have checked the fuse on front left side of the rider seat. The silver lining of all fuse is intact when viewed diagonally towards the light.

Since my batt have not been changed for a yr plus I will changed batt first and try to change the starter relay under the driver seat.Installation wise just follow youtube. Thanks everybody.

is it becos of my engine oil is motul 10-40w too thin that makes the engine sound different? i seldom ride my bike, maybe once every two weeks for 2km . how can i preserve the enigne when i seldom ride

You should top up according to specs. Use t dip stick to check if u over top up . If u did over top up, t engine does not lubricate t engine enough.

To use dip stick, straighten t bike, clean t dip stick and put t dip stick inside. Do not screw it in.

For me, i use t dip stick as t measurement.

Hope this helps.

10-40 is within t specs.

preserve t engine by taking note t engine oil, spark plug last service. if u seldom ride, it may be a bit hard to start due to the batt.

u mention tt there used to br 4litres of EO in ur bike. then u drain off n top up 3litres. R6 onli require 2.4litre n 2.6litres if u change oil filter. if u hv over topping up e EO, i guess ur engine gasket shld be gone, plugs shld be veri black also.

2km per ride is not even goin to warm up ur tyres. go for a longer distances,u need to work those injectors, pumps n coolants, u cant even fully charge e battery. n not to mention ur fuel tank will start to rust.

If you are using Motul, please take note that this is more towards racing engine oil. It depends on the distance you travel and Motul has a problem to thin out quick unless you regularly change. I have tried before and Motul dont really last long. For me the first week is solid but subsequent week, gear engagement not slick. So just take note. Motul is like Shell's V-Power, give you the Oomph but not the distance.

TOTALLY AGREE.......Had few problems before but all due to bad fuse, waste money checking and towing. Must have this habit of buying spare fuse and take it with you when you travel.

I rather you change the starter relay first then the battery. It will be a repeating problem if you dont, battery easy to obtain but starter relay needs more time as it is a component.

Hey guys, just wondering. Does anyone know where I can buy the brake disc mounting bolts? For 08 R6.

not too sure about that, but you can try Plant Motors at Ubi. $80 for the starter relay with installation.
