Hey Gabriel, thanks alot for the step-by-step instructions all but I've a few questions heh. Removing of previous paint, how do you do that? Thinner? Hmm..

As for step (3), do you use the rough sandpaper or the fine sandpaper does the job? And oh, what's a primer?

The finish of the paintjob depends on the lacquer is it? Like... If I want it shiny type, I get a shiny lacquer and if I want a matte finish, bla bla etc correct?

Btw I'm wondering, if I take out my tank and all to spray, does it matter if there's petrol inside?

think u should try on a small part of your bike first.. for eg the front mud guard or something..

rough sand paper, and remember to clean it either with alcohol or something similar.. if there is oil on the surface.. your paint wun stick..

primer is something like ermm... base coat..

it doesnt really matter if theres petrol ornot.. but easier for u to handle is ofcos without petrol..

remember to spray under hot sun..

but if u plan to change theme often.. den dun bother.. just rough sand paper ur old paint work.. den spray desired colour

den lacquer..

Oh so basically primer is just like a base colour to like cover the old colour and so-called easier for the tank to eat the new colour? Haha.. Then the alcohol part, normal cloth dap with alcohol and just wipe the areas thoroughly, afterwhich sandpaper the thing and that will be all for the pre-painting procedure?

Any paint or lacquer brands to reconmmend?

RJs are good.

get some from beach road area, really much cheaper.

normally a can would cost about $4.50 to $5.00.

but hey at yishun got one shop quite cheap too, if you dont want to travel far.

chong pang that area.

if u want more color go to mustafa, they have lots. so it seems.

why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly..

Hehee... thanks for your compliments Chomster.

:btw: this is my first theme/style and I don't think I'm gonna change it anytime soon. I prefer original design. Class :thumb:

:offtopic: Anybody wanna arrange another meet up??? Or can I just go poke my head around while you guys are spraying paint? I've painted my bicycle before...

hi!! i jus done up my RX100... Jus wondering, which bike shop is reliable for servicing and tuning such bikes? My bike can only go at a max of 80km/hr. Will tuning the bike enable it to go at a faster speed?

Posted

RJ brand is not bad.. price is about $3.50 per can..

remember to clean the nozzle frequently.. and when its going to be empty, the paint comes out in small small squirts.. so u will not wanna use it right to the end..

good luck..

check to see if your wheels can move freely.

Thanks alot for the tips gab!

I'm actually thinking of doing it like within this few days. After all I'm on leave till thursday, so I thought of putting my free time to some good use. And of course if there's anyone who are willing to come down, I'll be more than happy to have him/her here with me. I'll need some assistance for sure haha, still very newbie so a lot of things not really very sure how to go about doing it. And uncertainty can be such a ###### ahah..

Maybe if any of you are free or what, we can arrange something? Preferably before this coming thurs, if not then gotta arrange on another date whereby myself and everyone else is free..

maybe u should just try sanding the oil paint to make the surface rought first..

the removing of paint is alot of work.. u cant ride ur bike for 1-2 days.. cos u need to remove the part.. else if the paint remover kanna any other part of ur bike by accident.. good luck !

anyway my next thing i might wanna do is to sprinkle those sparkling dust on a thin layer of lacquer.. but dunno if it will work out ornot.. haha..

u could use running tap water to clean the surface as well.. and your fingers also have oil fyi... hmm.. but actually after u remove the paint, it would be chrome.. and u might be tempted to leave it that way ! haha.. but needs lots of polishing

Wah running tap also can? Hmm ok nvm la, I think I'll stick to the alcohol method. It's called tarpine right? So after wiping with the alcohol, and sanding it thoroughly, I'll see chrome? That's interesting lol..

Ok so... Erm recommendation for lacquer? Thanks! :)

Hmm ok it's sunday, I can't find any hardware shop that's open in my area. So as of now I just sandpaper-ed my batt cover. I'm not sure how much must I sand, but it's smoother than before. And it was dark red before, now its like light/dull red? Some of the parts, the paint actually fell off, I could see the previous colour. Now I'm wondering if that's enough or must I go on sanding all the way till the whole paint all gone? Hmm...

I wanna spray off-white, abit beige for the tank so for the cover probably the same thing, if not then black also can. Anyway for the plastic, primer not required right? Cos the guy from the hardware store said that primer is to prevent and protect against rust. Is that right?

Hi, fellow Rx-? kakis... i have got a qn about the rear rims of ur bikes...

the sprocket is not tighted straight to the rim izit? it is tighten to a "hub" with 4 legs before it is inserted into the sitting in the rim correct?

Anyone here knows if TZR rear rim is oso the same set up or the sprockets are tighten to the rim itself.

Thanks a million.

But I see those old skool classic honda bikes, wah alot all chrome tank one sia, damn sweet. Anyway just to check, for the tank area, if im not able to sand till the previous paint works all fall off, does it mean that I don't have to put primer? Since the metal area's not exposed at all.. Hmm just a thought..
