Hi!! I am new here but has been riding an RXS for bout 2 years..:) I would like to ask all of you experienced lao-jiaos here... becos I seem to be having 2 problems...

1. Rainwater will seep through the fuel catch hole, therefore causing much problem to the bike. (rite now i am putting on a miserable piece of scotch tape to cover the whole...not good for long run)

2. Whenever I pump to full tank, and I brake at the traffic light, the petrol comes swooshing out...VERY Messy!!!

Can a ny kind souls out there enlighten me on these matters???( I have already changed the fuel cap already, but still the same leh) Thanx!!

hi!

I don't have either problem, although I've heard of the first one happening to older RXKs/RXSs. I've seen uncles cover their fuel caps with the bottom of a plastic bottle they cut out. Quite ugly, but it'll work. Alternatively, u could get a small strip of rubber and use a magnet to secure it over the key hole. That might work.

But it seems to me that you have a bigger problem since fuel sloshes out when you brake suddenly. I've never heard of this happening! From the key-hole or around the cap (ie. the seal between the cap and tank is poor)?

Posted

im having the same problem as u lawlim... water will seep into my tank and causing problems expecially when i just start my bike to move off... the engine will die very easily.

what i suggest is tt you put a rubber piece in between the tank hole and the underside petrol cover. make sure u cut a hole for the thing on the cap tt hooks onto the tank to make it secure. tt way u will create a watertight seal and won't really ruin the outlook at the sametime.

hope this helps.

anyway i have a question to ask.

how many gaskets are there altogether in rxk. and how much does it cost to replace all of them. any shops to recommend?

cause there's just a gut feeling in me telling me to replace all the gaskets before a big problem occurs. thanks

am also thinking of doing this. but DIY.

the good thing abt a military theme is that you can get away with DIYing it. No need to look super pro, because it's supposed to look rough and grungy!

RJ London has "olive green" spray paint. That's the green that you should use.

gaskets are cheap, labour is not! It'll be at least $50 because the engine will have to be disassembled.

if you're gonna replace your gasket, you might as well overhaul the engine!

HKL does it for $300. The guy told me as I was paying for my overpriced 2T. So maybe $300 is too much too haha.

this one i spraypaint myself... right now it really looks like crap cause the paint crack. and now it looks like a street directory. i only left need to label the lines with road names then can go send and publish a book.

i cant stand it anymore so tts y im sending to shop to spraypaint this time. might as well spend a little bit more money, tt can last longer than DIY.

Thanx man!! Tink doing up the Rxs/K into a military bike will be veri cool and one of its kind!!! Do u tink putting up two black saddle bags at the side will match the team???Cos I would still want the convenience of having storage compartments on my bike>

Wah! Suddenly everybody is posting while i away.:sian:

Speaking of spraying, The Only Grey RxK, have gone reservist and transform into the RX-Kommando if u noe wat i mean.

The shitty thing is tat the green tat i sprayed on is not the green that i wanted.

Like Ultimax said, it should be 'olive green' not 'Dark Green'.

But wat to do, sprayed oredi. Pics will post soon. Me just need to change the handle bars and seat cover.

The bike will adopt the the 'military style' until i have any ideas or inspirations of wat my next theme will be. Maybe a 'hippy theme' next time.Ciao!!!

Guys, i m dying of a meeting wif u guys. When will it be?!!!!

1 spray can of hi-temperatue(black) : abt $7.00 - $9.00

1 spray can of white : $3.50 - $4.00 each

Total : u need to fork out abt may less than $40, depending on wat u buy lah.
