Maritime is very diverse, as vast as the oceans.....

Do search the horizon prior embarking your journey.....

BTW lobangs are abundance.....

Hi all,

A prospective personnel in the marine industry here. Just finished NS and recently got accepted into DNS in SP. will be starting next month. anyway, looking around to get a sponsor. hopefully for one which pays the entire school fees with a monthly allowance? any reccomendations on which companies has good prospects i should look out for?

Also, what is the diff between a company dealing in offshore and dealing in sailing? Tried googling, no use. heard from the course manager tt offshore would have better salary in the long run but what should i expect? i mean, pros/cons between both trades. currently thinking of going for offshore...money talks. so advice please. anyone? previously got an offer for the harbour pilot from PSA but...not really keen. feel like i need a bit of exitement in life. can't see myself doing the same thing over and over again everyday. advice on whether i should consider that as well?

Lastly, what is a typical day for a seafarer? work sleep work sleep? errr...... what i mean is what entertainment is avaliable? TV, internet, gym?

oh. yes. sorry. this one really lastly. accomodation. what is it like for a jr. officer? a bunk sharing between how many? what is the size like?

Thanks in advance. seriously. need your honest view. don't wanna mess up my life and regret later on. Cheers.

Think best to start with the LASTLY.....begin with the end in MIND :-D

Typical day for a seafarer.....if you going to start onboard as a CADET, it will be AREA CLEANING? work sleep work sleep...BUT it's more like working more than sleeping :-S ? Entertainment is avaliable...or you sure can SELF-ENTERTAIN....TV, internet all depends on how generous is the company, gym...don't aspect Fitness First kind of set-up?!

Accomodation...likely you'll get a cabin to yourself...like a normal room in HDB Flat with attached toilet.

Lastly.....enjoy your cruise and make sure that you'll reached your destination, not just heading towards the horizon :-)
