:cheeky: actually bro, when u carry on coi, u already carry on the previous owner loan interest. diff shops offer diff loan interest. it varies from 4%-7%.

interest also depends on how many years u tie n how much u down. if u have cash to down and cash for monthly, than don't buy direct from owner. they may down low. when i use to ride my gsr, i only tie 3 years. $371 per month. in order to tie lower interest rate.

BUT! gsr is a very nice bike. i now looking to down grade. as i enjoy bigger bikes already. still going back to gsr. hahahaha!:cheeky:

i have attached a bike calculator on my previous post. use it to get a rough calculation.:thumb:

Ya and COI also means you don't own the bike. Got some disadvantage there. I'd prefer to re-finance and transfer the name to myself. But thats me.

So means you re-finance the bike from the shop? I understand that under hire purchase agreement, transfer of ownership must be done via shop. To me once its re-finance + transfer ownership, it is not considered COI anymore.

My understanding of COI

interest charge is per year basis n not one time basis.

if the bike is $10000 than 5% interest per year will be $500 per year. he tie 5 years so total int is $2500 for 5 years.

actually it's the way you look at it.

option 1.

per year, owner A have to pay $2000(total bike price) + $500(int)

for 5 years. fyi $208.3/mth.

so after paying for 2 years he pass to u,

u continue another $6000(total bike price) + $1500(int) for 3 years.

means total up to $7500. (u still pay interest.)

option 2.

owner A mindset is he paid for 2 years settling total interest first. he pay bike cost later. $208.3 x 24mths = $5000. (he managed to cover int and $2500 bike cost.)

so after paying for 2 years he pass to u,

$12500 - $5000 = $ 7500

u continue another $7500 left to shop.(no interest)

it's all in the mind. to u, u bought the bike for $7500 excluding some cash he ask from you. quite a steal right? save money? WRONG! the bike is still COI. the bike still belongs to him. not you.

complications if you COI.

-Owner A must always be the main Insurance owner. if he younger than u, you must pay more for insurance.

-Owner A have accident record. Insurance cost more. yearly for you.

-Once installment is done, you must find the owner to come down and settle the bike with shop together with you. if he refuses to transfer ownership, you can't sell the bike and get the cash back. remember(bike still belongs to owner A. worst(if you can't find owner). u can never sell the bike cause the bike don't belong to you. owner A can anytime take the bike back cause it belongs to him. and all you have over him is mutual consent that u pass him some cash to get the bike from him 3years ago. if he refuses u loose.

but if you re-finance. you may pay a little more due to re-interest. but saves you all the headache and insurance money yearly. the bike is yours forever!!!! :p:thumb:

if you wondering how much it cost to re-finance, this is the brake down following the example above.

you re-finance $7500. for 3 years. (both coi & re-finance ins u settle ur self)

$7500(total bike cost)+ $1125(5% int for 3 years)+ $250(processing fee)

so total you pay extra $1375.

coi = $208.3 for 3 years + owner headache + ins headache

re-finance = $246.5 for 3 years + no headache. ( extra $38/mth for headache free)

Hope this helps bro..

Any idea if COI, must B buy the new insurance under A's name?

Question 1: Cant the Bike be insured under B with A as Named Rider? ..or even solely on B only?

Question 2: Bike is tie to shop b'coz of finance issue. Other than that, can we renew / buy insurance on our own rather than going thru the shop?

Question 3: Apart from finance & insurance, we should be able to renew road tax without going thru the shop right? ..coz we send for inspection on our own mah..

For advice(s), pls.

Question 1: Yes can. Can.

Question 2: I don't see a problem there. But some shops insist you renew from them.

Question 3: No need. Road Tax will be sent to A instead of shop.

question 1: depends on your insurance company. some allow some don't. they just wanna charge u based on the youngest age between u or the first owner.

question 2 & 3: yes. you can do it on your own. road tax renewed will be sent to owner A unless u go straight to vicom renew.

Seat compartment? I dun think the space underneath the seat even qualifies to be called a seat compartment.. hahaha...

For myself i put my insurance papers, road tax, parking coupons(folded neatly inside a small ziplock bag), Scottoiler and a small wiping cloth under the seat.

Read somewhere in this thread (forget which page already) that one of the bros managed to squeeze a bike cover inside. Should be a very tight squeeze though.

But am i complaining?

Nope, the looks of awe and curiosity i get and the pride of riding one of the more unique beautiful beasts on the roads of Singapore compensates for the lack of space.

Dude, i dont mean to be rude...This is not the right thread to be asking about the performance between s4 vtec and gsr4 or in terms of looks...The thread is open to everyone to read including our s4 cousins....

The question / comment may look innocent but it may lead to unnecessary flaming later on...

Bro, u make a right move,S4 is too common like a taxi already. Power i think abit lose to S4 vtec la.But top speed wont lose...mine 1 can hit nearly 190kmh.a powerful bike also. I also just bought my GSR last 2 week ago, rare bike and nice design, sporty awesome look,S4 too retro for me.of course some ppl may like it :cheeky:

I have just rode my GSR for 3 weeks and in my opinion, doesnt really matter which one outperforms more, S4 or GSR400.

Both are Japanese 400ccs inline-4's anyway, just how much performance u want to squeeze out of it?

Pick up/ Acceleration: U want to pick up so fast for wat? Got enough power to siam and get ahead of taxis from a traffic stop is good enough for me.

Top speed: Just how often will u reach the top speed of your machine? Unless u go up north often, i bet u rarely hit 140km/h in Singapore most of time.

At the end of it all, i chose GSR just becos it looks nicer. (To me anyway, subjective though, some ppl say S4 looks better; to each his own).

Yes, u can call me superficial/shallow, but if u dun enjoy what u ride, then it will be less value for your money.

End of the day, respect all 2-wheelers. We are a neglected lot, being shoved around, boxed in and cut across by bigger 4 wheel cagers everyday.

We have to take care of each other, whether we're riding a Ducati or Daelim, Cub or Cruiser, S4 or GSR.

Just my 2 cents though!

Peace out my brothers!
