yah, was thinking about how to connect the speedo with different ecu,

meaning different output.

having a ver s makes it worse.

mods done:

powerplant device, fuel injector venturis,

underseat cylindrical air filter, bassy stock cans,

super-sensitive in-built gyroscope, inertia-based accelerometer,

streamlined panniers (zero drag),

taped up wires, exposed grounding wires,

TBC mounted, custom tire pressures.

litre bikes watch out! :gun:

It depends on how the ECU deciphers the raw data provided by the various sensors built into the bike.

Generally, speedos for ECU bikes of the same make (say, Suzuki) can interchange with each other. I've seen before: GSXR K3 or K4 onto a TL1000R.

This is becoz the sensors are the same and thus telemetry data sent to the speedo with be roughly the same.

But you will still lose some data.

In the example given above, the TLR will lose FI alert indicator, temperature & will not have time displayed.

For non-electronic bikes like S4, totally no go at all.

They have limited telemetry data, which is sent direct from the sensors neways and that the plugs dun even match at all.

meaning he will have to install an ecu on his ver s with a suzuki harness from

the speedo? LOL..

anyway, our speed display is calculated from?

i'm thinking GPS + revs.

if so, than no matter how you change the gearing, the 'speed' will not change

right? i might have been speeding, heh..

Nope.

Simply means, its impossible for him to fit a GSR speedo onto a Ver S.

Or rather, yes, its possible. But nothing is displayed. :cheeky:

I've mentioned this before. Our speed is calculated from the the speedo sensor, NOT GPS. GPS only tells the ECU what gear is it in so as to adjust the mapping for that gear (for those riding 600, this is why you get the stupid stutter at neutral acceleration on gear 4).

The speedo sensor is simply like a dynamometer, which is attached to the crank if I'm not wrong. Faster it spins, more electricity current is generated, the ECU "senses" the voltage and translates it into speed.

Now, the advantage is that the speed changes is displayed real-time, no delays unlike those digital bike displays which has a 1-2 second lag to calculate and update the speed.

Disadvantage is, its not accurate when changes are made to the gearing.

How so?

At the factory upon assembly, the speedo is calibrated to spin in proportion to the sprocket size it came with, in this case size 47 sprocks for GSR400. So in other words, it measures speed based on how fast the crank spins and assumes the rear wheel will be that speed as the sprocket size is as calibrated for.

When you change sprock sizes, the wheel no longer spins at the same rate, due to sprock ratio differences. However, crank still spins the same speed. So you get a speed difference.

Two ways to calibrate it.

1. Modify the crank to spin at the same proportion / ratio as the rear wheel does with the new sprock.

2. Get a speedo calibrator.

Guess which I invested in? :)

If you want, a fren of mine is selling a SpeedoHealer for $100. But its for Honda. Need to order the Suzuki harness.

ok thanks.

i know about the honda speedohealer but the harness will be about $40-50

so i might as well get a new one.

unless the guy who's taking it off his strom replies me.

How to make the 2 front signal light lights up like the S4? Anyone keen to share

very simple. need 2 bi-filament bulbs, a new lamp base for the signal lights, some wire and about an hour of your life. :)

rien d'autre que le max.

Oh thanks, nvr thought of that, I was thinking maybe using diode to tap in the voltage :thumb:

No need switches but modified socket and double filament bulb .You must consult Boy Boy aka Christmas Tree heh heh...dun ask Sia to do it becos he will make you sweat!!!! and you have to standby new fuses hahaha

anyway, i miss wildcard.

Is it legal to do that ? I believe the ans should be illegal ,thinking of doing the rear also

No problem so far, TP asked we always say other GSR bike signal light spoilt becos it not always light up like S4 .

Wats the name for the bulb ,1156 or 1157 something like that?

The bulb is very common should not be hard to find, it is the socket and it need modification.

limbat should have the socket ,maybe tomorrow go his place to find

eh, if you find the socket size, PM me.

i wanna know what bulb size we use to.

replacing them with LEDs and a condenser.
