Hope somebody can help me, need some advice on this. I just bought my GSR. now waiting for the babe to arrive:clap I was told to change the tyres as factory fitted tyres are not gd, is it true? If yes, which brand is recommended

When I first got my bike, I felt the surface of my stock tyre and it is damn smooth... doesn't have the rubbery/sticky feel ... In my mind, I feel tyres are inportant and thought of changing it immediately ... but one of my friend told me that new tyres need to be seasoned first and he warned me to not corner so much yet... so I decided to give the stock tyres a try ...

Few weeks later, the top surface of the stock tyres have wore off ... and now when I feel the surface again, it feel much better. So far, my review on the stock tyres are ok. Not as good as compared to those branded names like Dunlops.. etc. If you've budget to spare and change your tyre, best to change it before the stock tyre get wore off... otherwise they wun want to take in your stock tyre at all. Also, there are many types of tyres ... do consider one that can cater to all weather ... dun go and simply get the most expensive racing tyres .. or else you will find that soon you need to change tyres again ...

Cheers,

Cyrix

for stock tyres, its already good just that at the start it has wax and thats why the tyre is so smooth. after a while if riding in the hot sun the tyre's wax will ware off and therefore the tyre will be abit sticky. so stock tyre is also good.. BT014 not bad ma...

no need go t/loan lah...

just find 1 speed camera and you'll know what speed you going in 2 weeks time...

hehehehe...

ehhh... mayb u help us try lor. its not FOC.

test speed cam = points deduction + fine.

i would love to join but i have some things not done yet.. i would like to join u all for a rounding or any other slackign session... soon i will meet up with u all with one of my gsr friend.

outing there is. rounding might not have. due to the ever rising petrol prices, we try to minimise riding ard. unless we r on a honda cub then thats another story.

Hey guys,

I got a small problem that need some advice. When I in traffic and at first gear, i move off at half clutch and trottle a bit then close trottle and clutch. But then engine stalled. Anyone met similar situation? Idling too low? Now is abt 800 at idle.

Thanks.

idling too low. mayb u try to whack the bike n c if the idling goes back to normal. some of us tried this method n it works. if a few times of whacking still cannot, then adjust the idling. cos idling is at factory setting so dun really recommand to adjust unnecessarily.

BT014, ok wat. unless u r rich then change lor. of cos the tyre is not as good but still can use for normal usage. just use it 1st then when its time to change then change. no point waste money like that.

mine lagi worse....at abt 500 only...yah...everytime clutch in will stall. but i adjusted to 1.1k and everything is back to normal.

i also adjusted the biting point of the clutch.

bro, u never whack the bike ah? or whack already still like that?

how many times u whack? idling ideally shd b 1.3k as per factory setting rite? urs already drop to 0.5k already. so shd whack more. anyway, adjust already then let it b lor. then next time when then idling drop abit, try n c if it goes back to normal.

i taking my 2A on 8th july...*cross fingers*pray pray* cant wait for day to come....

any comment? :) pls give all your honest opinion...

i have worked out budget..both are sensible enuf...but of cos...COI better as no need upfront money..then can buy more mods..keke...

need you advice on general feeling of the bike, if COI oct'06 bike condition is reliable enuf for daily road use and joining you guys for trips...lol...:)

tested one bike...handlebar kinda stiff compared to S4...is that normal?...and turning radius is proven to be wider...idling is abit erratic, and feel like stalling at low rpm...acceleration is ok...overall feel is good and stable...

ps: bro swoosh, u still letting go your bike?..keke..odometer still at 9K?...keke...i interested le...but dowan to reduce this group members no if i buy over from you..haha...you guys know of any bro letting go of their well kept underused GSR4?..keke..intro le...:)

whack is all the way to near red zone. 8k rpm not enough lah. but since idling is adjusted then let it b lor. if u rev up even higher, the bike shd b more stable. cos some bikes r meant to b whacked.

looking for 2nd hand bikes, go to the used bike section to source. there shd b riders letting go of their bike. alternatively is go motorshop check it out.

bike feeling is good definitely but not as good as a revo. idling erratic may mean the bike long time not whacked already therefore idling is low n feels like stalling anytime.

u need more info, check out page 1 1st post. all the info u need is there.

Let me be the first to wish you luck for your TP. I was like you too... already aiming to get a 2A bike even before passing my TP ... but with the same motivated spirit of getting a 2A bike and determination... I am sure you will be riding a GSR in no time soon ...:D

There are pros and cons about getting a 2nd hand bike and getting a first hand bike.

Below are some that I can think of personally...

Getting a 2nd hand bike:

Pros:

1.No need to pay upfront cash installment.

2. No need to do running-in.

3. Getting all the mods that the previous owner has did to the bike.

4. More initial money to spend on modding your bike.

Cons:

1. If you are not expert in the bike system, you will not be able to detect any fault in your bike(presumingly the previous owner may have encountered some faults)-risky... unless you know the previous owner very well.

2. May want to send to workshop to evaluate the bike status before comfirming the purchase.(wise to spend some $ to check before regretting after making the purchase)

3. Some 2nd bike may run fine for awhile, but weeks later .. problem may arises(quite common cases!)

Getting a 1st hand bike:

Pros:

1. You know that it is straight from factory and fault-free(unless minor faults from factory poor QC standard)

2. You dun have to worry getting cheated by the previous owner.

2. You own the privilege to be the 1st owner.

Cons:

1. You need to do running in.

2. No initial $ to do modding(Unless you're rich.. and GSR dun have much "official" accessories anyway.)

*On top of all these above: Owning a honda cub is better than owning GSR :D

(Joking...)

Anyway... it's ur own decision ... dun aim too early as I was also given advise before getting my 2A license ... maybe when you "graduated" ... there will be a better bike than GSR?

Anyway, goodluck in your TP!

Cheers,

Cyrix

thnx for the well wishes bro...u r right...i may be plannng too early..haha...cos u know that sometimes the result of the TP test depends more on the stars aligning than all your riding skills combined...keke...lol...lets hope for the best!!!

yea...i keep goin thru same points that you mentioned...very hard to reli be sure of condition of bike...sending to workshop is a good reassurance but still won guarantee hidden or upcoming problems that bike has lo...*sigh* so end of day, got to hope that the previous owner bro has reli been frank & sincere about taking care of his baby...dont know him personally...know him through this forum...*and to the bro i am referring to - i think u r alright..steady!! *

wads with the cup lately guys?? lol...i own and ride a nuovo now...can match up to cup onot??!!!...its auto gear...so relax riding to work on days i lazy to drive...haha...but itchy to take on a GSR400 la..keke...

bottomline *cross fingers* hopefully bro skater is right...its max 2 years..and since mileage is 21km..i shud tink that bike is still superb condition enuf for daily ride bah...:)

i dowan to be fastest...

i just wan to be FAST-er...

is the new revo that good ah?...keep tinking that you GSR guys are just suan-ing that revo is good..haha...but still, i am not all out for speed/power ( until class 2 later la )...so the not-so-common-every-5min-you-see-one-s4 looks of GSR plays a big part for me la...

bout the idling..i hope that's the case la...:)
