wah .. so long never log in this forum .. so many topics already ... let me catch up ...

Spark plug > long or short better ?

both equaly good,it all depends what top head u use, rule of thumb,a px200 normally use a long type,px 150 uses a short ones though some 150cc top head do uses a long ones.. best way check with ur mechanics..never ever just change the short type plug to the long ones w/o proper checking ...

CDI > CDI is an improved system from the contact point ... which is better? sentence already say mah .. improved system .. take note .. not all vespa can be converted to CDI .. depend on the engine u use ... simply way to check,if u need to use a flywheel puller tool when removing the flywheel, then most likely its possible to convert to CDI ...

looks like the classic thread is really active nowdays .... powerr man

From what i know, bikes 1975 or 1974 and below, it is legal not have signal lights...

doubt it is after the implementation of the COE.....

my scoot is at Tong Aik finally.....

slowly but surely will get my scoot back to it's best condition.....

hmmm.....feeling the itch to re-activate my scoots as soon as possible...but i guess i will take my time to restore it to what it was perviously....

Sharpey, since you are riding a PX200, does yours vibrate alot?

I know the vibration from a 200cc engine is more but it does give you more power....

what are your thoughts?

ban hoe's selling checkered seats (black&white, blue&white, red&white) for $85. quite nice too. but u have to install urself. tink, they dont provide workmanship. do they?

the best is..

1. dont throw away ur seat if its still in gd condition, rewrap them at the stretch of jln bsr there (many shops there such as eugene, etc.)

2. buy 2nd hand seats frm TA, den rewrap!

Posted

for seats there's oso original ones by piaggio, 90 plus, think normal rewrap is 30

you be lucky if there are willing to provide tool..

:cheer:

actually i ask them before but i got the tool..

but well maybe i did not said anything about workmanship $$..

Money talks in the case of installation....

DIYing seat installation should be easy....just buy and try it out....save on installation charges....

but before you buy, you might wanna check on the bolts and nuts...and try to figure whether installation is easy...should be easy i guess....

I normally change 1/2 yr once..

emrun... you are too kind... Really not an expert leh!

Vigano, would like to attend... both for cultural knowledge improvement and to see lots of nice vespas in one place.. Sadly I shall be in Penang (on well deserved break) until next monday... Hope it all goes well for you...

Gweester, have not ridden a px150 (for more than 5 mins before) so can't really say if it vibrates more than a 200... My scoot isn't all that bad.. sure it isn't as smooth as a GT... but its not vibey to the extent of being uncomfortable... I guess it all depends on what you can get used to... Certainly, the 200 has its benefits in its ability to carry around that much more weight than a 150... (must get to the gym :D )

I think the main diff between the 150 and the 200 is in torque.. not top speed... i.e. my acceleration will be quicker, and I find it easier to go up hills... on the expressway, we'll both get scared and go slower by about 110kmh :D

Sharpy, from what i know 200cc does vibrate more than the usual and it says all when you use less effort in getting up slopes and hills....

got put grease or not? i have been riding my vespa for 2 yrs. still hevent change clutch cable (touch wood). but i put a lot of grease..

Yes, you are right, in the event of clutch cable snapped, you can't change disengage your clutch to change gears....which means you can't clutch-in....

There are ways to move off in the event of clutch cable snap but you wouldn't want to use go to that extend to use those methods though....

One advise is to keep a spare clutch cable at your bike so in the event of it been snapped, you are not stranded in some ulu place as you are able to fix it yourself...(but 1st of all you have to know how to fixed it)

One way of learning is to observed the mechanic doing it first...must pay a little for labour (cos a clutch cable is only a few dollars)....but after which you have learn the skill and can DIY...or you can hang around vespa shops which is doing the clutch cable changing and learn for free!!!

the steps are relatively easy....

I think there is no need to tow if you have spare cable or have friends with spare cables and know how to fix....cos the cost of getting it tow is about 5 times or more than the cable fixing job needed....

You are rather fortunate to have a clutch cable that last so long....some cable tend to snap easily but it also depends on the rider's style of ride...(i use to change 1 a year)

so doing your next routine servicing, you might wanna ask the mechanic to check your cable...but if you were to change the cable yourself, do remember to gease the whole cable before you install...as for normal maintanence, just use lubs to oil the cables (just like any other bikes)

In my case I cannot do anything but use my human strength...

push the bike to the shop for repair.

-always have a extra clutch cable on you bike..(I used to have till 13 days ago.)

I use the clutch cable and have not buy a new one yet..

well even if i have a spare I don"t know how to change..

so that answer to the other question nope i did not change myself.

talking about tow..

I think i better keep number in my HP..ic case i need to use them.

else will be like yesterday..

Pushing the bike from one place to another.

ackl,

tough luck man!!

Probably you can pick up the changing of the clutch cable from the person who did it....worth the extra effort as you would not know when is the next time your cable will snap....my god...yours snap in 13days...phew! :faint:

It's always good to have the tow number in your HP....

you never know when you need it....

Also, i used to keep gear cable (don't know whether I used the correct term) in my scoot.....this cable is thinner than the clutch cable but is also capable of snapping.....

Once the gear cables snap, you are unable to engaged into that particular gear (if i can recall correctly, there are 4 gear cables)....
