Will probably stay stock at the moment, having probs with Mdm Soh. She wants me to pay some kinda downpayment first before willing to do anything. can't blame her though, shes just running a business. Wanted to give my cc details over the phone but the shop does not accept cc, only nets which I am unable to do so over here in Jakarta. Shall suppress the overwhelming urge to mod this time and go with her compromise to service the scoot to "good running condition". Currently using some crappy 2t that was left over by the prev owner, will throw that out and try Maxima's. rem reading some article somewhere that they are the best at the moment, surpassing motul. oh well.

Haven't heard of Maxima 2T oil... I use Esso Gold... others use Castrol.... Either will do... Fully synth isn't strictly necessary if you're staying stock.... Semi Synth will do... BUT, if you are prepared to pay the extra you will benefit from

1) better protection against seizure

2) less carbon build up on cylinderhead/piston and in exhaust

3) not being quite so nasty to the environment (synth burns cleaner)...

Found my fork :) Hurray :) at$200 it wasn't cheap... but then again there are hardly any et8 forks on the market at the moment... not many of the later model ET8's have been scrapped yet...

I think my 60mm crank dreams are going to have to be put on hold for the moment... If I do buy one, obviously I'd like to go with the Worb5 special... but that's going to cost! The stock Mazz 60mm is probably perfectly fine... but then, I've got the mentality of "if you're prepared to spend 200 on something "ok" then why not spend 350 on somthing "wow"....

Your scoot is a 150cc right?

As far as I know the 60mm crank mod is more often done on 200's... not sure if it can be done to the 150... Basically it moves the piston lower on each revolution, meaning that the capacity of the cylinder is increased... rougly by about 10cc's... so With a pinasco 215 on, it becomes 225.... The main benefit is more torque... thus faster acceleration...

Try sending her a cheque or do funds transfer? If not pass the money to someone reliable and ask them to help pass the money to auntie?

Its the Maxima k2 or something, cost about $25-29 (ester based like motul, read about THE motul 800 also, no way I'm paying shipping just for 2t, think as long as its fully syn it should be good enough, just everybody's want to have "The Best"). would prefer to switch to fully syn, have this phobia about my piston jamming. Dun know why, nv even rode a 2 stroker until now.

Yeah might as well hold on get the wow factor for a lil more. The Worb 5 seems to be the most widely appraised right now. It has a sexy name too, The Worb 5 "*****" lip crank. Man thats a WOWW.

Will stick to stock crank on my 150, yes there are those who changed it(Mazz 60mm) and are for it but there are just as many against it. Does the Worb 5 fit on a 150?

Thanks for the suggestions wildswans. One of my biggest regrets since coming here was not having an internet banking a/c, ordered stuff many times online and the cc was usually sufficient.

Got my best buddy to go over and hand her some cash first either today or tmr cos as we speak he is coming back from his 5 day tour to KL on his brand new Hayabusa! Hai....... n I'm still stuck here in a 8-8pm 12-hr job with no off days until manpower is up again.

Is this your first scoot? Is this your first 2 wheeler?

If yes... don't get it painted straight away... you will scratch the new paint and then be really unhappy...

If no, then you have a number of options.

Cheap = Tai Hin or Tong Aik....$300 both outsource and use a quick dry 2k paint that will last well enough... Neither place will normally fully dismantle the scoot... so some bits wont get painted... and others won't get painted properly.

Expensive = Your choice of Car Spray shops willing to spray a scoot.... Cost $500 ... plus another 1-200 for disassembly and reassembly of scoot (to be done by scooter shop)... This way the paint is of higher quality... is oven baked.. and everywhere gets painted...

If you want to sandblast back to bare metal before painting.. add another 1-200 ontop of this price....

Oh? tot it could be modify to fit, must be my fantasy then. Pretty hard to visualise n compare from the pics from sccoterhelp or vespa maintenance when I do not have my scoot here esp when I rode the "new" for about 3 times before its back to Jakarta.

Understand how the longer crankshaft benefits the scoot in terms of performance after u explain it. In that case, why do ppl cut it? Do they really cut/shorten it or is there another meanig to "cut crank"?

Hey thanks. Yup hope it works out too, change of schedule as well coming back a week later than planned. TA might not be too pleased about it, prob just pay them the parking fee or something. They have been quite gracious with me already even though they have not met me before.

Bought the scoot from a private seller (when I came back for a few days 2 months ago) who supposedly recently overhaulled it. eventually I realise the overhaul was done 6 years ago (yeah I know, recently??? Huh???) realised that the engine not running too well and I probably had to send it to the workshop but......

3-4 days after I bought it I had to come back to Jakarta. Tot that since I will come back for a few days only again this mth, I had it towed to the TA workshop to have it serviced while Im still here in Jakarta so that when I come back, I need not send it myself and the scoot would already be "healed" and ridable.

So the whole process was done over the phone and not in person.

Long story short, wanted my scoot already repaired by the time I come back so that I have time to enjoy my scoot instead of seeing it days at the workshop.

For 800 you'll get a scoot (PX, LML or Dan Motor Piaggio)in need of TLC.... I.e. you're going to have to spend about 1k getting it running and looking good...

Then factor in that the on the road price includes insurance and tax also... so dep on your age your on the road price might be 1200...

The Italian PX's obvioulsy have a bit more style than the indian LML's and the Indonesian Dan Motor's.... They should also have fewer mechanical woes and eventually (with a lick of paint) command higher resale...

So basically look for an Italian PX.... You'll be very lucky to find a Discbrake PX (FR plate onward) for $800... but it is possible... Ewty managed to get one for $600!!!
