Max temp for the whole day is about 108deg C

 

Max Temp during cruising is about 102 deg C

 

And not just my bike but both TIM & my bike have the same thing...

 

Please advise what should we do..... What to be check ??

At 160km/hr. temp was 105degC under sun cruising , my stock coolant was about 95degC.

At 120km/hr temp was about 95degC under sun cruising, my previous stock coolant was 87degC.

 

dun think is my radiator cap, my bike only 27,000km mileage & 1 yr 2 months old. I flushed in Alexander village & Ones_co in Kaki bukit - different workshop but both reputable ones. But both me & Ones_co experiences the differences in temp rises almost immediately after flushing on the way home. So comparison to my stock coolant 's performance is immediate & dramatic.

 

It's also very unlikely our radiator cap or any mechanism happened to malfunctioned during the coolant flushing. It can't be that unlucky, coz the temp was OK just before flushing.

 

We both using Maxima Cool Aide pre-mixed after reading so many good comments from many people in the other threads.

 

But based on all these analysis, I suspect 2 causes:-

1) Maybe its the poor workmanship of the flushing process by the 2 different workshop,

2) or it could also be a one time batch production QC problem on the pre-mixed.

 

Btw how many % is the water content of the Pre-mixed? It's not stated I believe. I understand more water % is better because water takes alot of latent heat energy to rise its temp by 1 degC. Lesser water content means temp rises faster & higher - which is what happens.

Got 2 targets in mind - Air papan near Mersing & the 2nd tier waterfall on Mt Ophir.

 

I suggest fixing a date, on that day if weather report is no good for one of them, we'll go to the other destination. But if weather forecast for both is superb; we'll choose to go Air Papan.

 

Reason is the trunk road to Mersing is a bit wavy or curvy. Can't afford to ride on such roads during raining - very dangerous.

 

I thinking the next trip probably 2 months from now.

This does sound very unusual. Cool Aide Premix concentrattion is around 4%. Up to 6% is what Maxima recommends. FYI, both severe over and under dose will not affect the cooling performance to that degree, I have this tried out before.

 

If it is indeed the coolant issue, I will flush and refill foc for you. You guys want to arrange a time together for me to personally give your bike a check through? I will PM my contact number.

our next trip in 2 months time, either Air Papan or Mt Ophir waterfall depending on weather forecast , there'll be lots of time to chat. Both are quite beautiful scenic places, we can just slack out there.

 

I still recall many many years ago while on a trip to tioman , I was with a group who jungle trek 45 mins to a waterfall. There, we swam & use mass tins or pans & fuel tablets to cook maggi mee & boil lipton tea next to a big waterfall pool. The noodles & tea tasted heavenly under such beautiful atmosphere & company. I hope to get that feeling again if we going there.

Today morning cruising at 90km/h temp is about 89 to 92deg C

 

For that day when cruising at 130km/h, it is about 95 to 98 deg C...

I called up Boon Siew today and asked what coolant they used for S4. They say its Honda brand coolant. I asked how many percent of glycol inside - they say 50%.

 

So this means my stock coolant was 50% glycol which means water content is 50% too. Not a good thing to have so much glycol coz tropical countries lilke spore dun need glycol. More water % is better for heat exchange. But yet my stock coolant temp was better before I changed.
