Hi to all Bol'Dorians!

How are you guys doing?

Just finish my run-in of my bike at 3000Km. So I did a major work of changing into Fully Syn Oil, Iridium spark plugs, change of brake pads and tightening of chain...

Also just got a Garmin GPS mount for the bike, so now I can mount my Garmin Legend on to the bike comfortably and track the GPS satellite!

So... about the adjustment of the beam angle for our Bol'Dor, anyone finds it useful?..... :cheeky:

Gaofar p(^.^)q

hi,

can i ask how u do the mounting of you gps?

also possible to post a pic of you mount?

possible to remove the gps?

motorworld charge me $55.

Any improvement? mmm ... I think the responsiveness improves when I squeezed the throttle. Power wise, I dun think so.

I think my next change will be iridium spark plugs. I heard this thing can turn hopping rabbits into raging bulls. I heard this from mechanics , car & bike enthsiasts. I thinks the cost vs performance boost ratio is best compare to other add ons.

tt6389: Yea, like I mentioned in the other thread, great chat we had. Nice to see you planning to get some. Guru has quite a selection I suppose you can ask him about. And the Boldor, like I told you, has quite a few more places to put LEDs in.

KKK: Right. "Beng" in the sense of the LEDs, but if you will take the time to reflect and really see this, you might not think the same way. It all depends on how one looks at it, and whether or not you believe it worthwhile to get such stuff for your bike. Besides, tt6389 forgot to mention that I also said something about legal ones, like changing meter bulb colors, which look nice on the new FBA meter dyes, the green-and-white ones, 3-in-1 indicator, stebel horn, etc. You could consider me "beng" for doing it but as tt6389 and Lass would tell you, I am not, and the same could be said for quite a few other modsters who have modified their bikes. We just like our bikes to look nice, is all.

Halo Panther,

I didn't knew you modsters also read boldorians' threads. :cheeky:

Personally I dun think your mods are "Beng".

Eye catchy? Attention grabbing? - Yes. Attractive? - Yes. Cool looking? - Yes. Ostentatious? - No. That's my opinion.:thumb:

I think all these mods is more of growing trend of sub-culture group behaviour thing to have unique identity rather than being stereotypical law abiding followers (Singaporeans especially). All developed countries have this kind of sub-cultures.

I definitely will be putting some blue LEDs below my bike in next couple of weeks time. My priority now is to get the iridium spark plugs this Sat, probably from Motorworld again.

Cheers.

Been hearing about them, iridium spark plugs that is. Though I think on a S4 the power is wasted unless you keep pushing your V-tec, which you do haha.

Changing one so fast though might not be a wise idea. Slight improvements only, I heard. You can read the thread on iridium spark plugs in this same section for S4. I believe someone asked something about it and the comments are all in there regarding the spark plug itself. IMHO you should not get one till you want to actually change your spark plug. Cheers.

Yo all!

Don't mind I "chap ji kah" in this LED talk... personally I feel it looks cool and certainly eye-catching with the LEDs underneath the bike glowing, like the cars in Too Fast Too Furious...

That aside, I also did think about the aspect that it not being legal in Singapore to switch it on in Singapore roads. (Did I get this right? That you can install but cannot switch on to show the light? I mean in a legal manner?...)

Though that did put me off initially in putting the LEDs, I've read of a post from a brother on other thread saying that we can don't look at it so negatively actually but think positively on why the LEDs would be usefull, of which the reason of putting the LEDs so when you are on the road of Malaysia or Thailand trips, in a convoy of bikes, to have the LEDs can lead one another along the road even in no-light situations...

Bro quizesilver, actually I tried to mount the holder to the bike's handle bar but found out that the mount wouldn't fit due to the space between the handlebar and the steering-cone nut is too narrow... So no choice but to later go to Motoworld to install handle bar riser... The following is the web-site for Garmin GPS handlebar mount: Garmin. I bought it at the GPS shop in Sim Lim Sqaure on ground floor for $38...

Alarm for my bike? Actually I've been looking for one all along the way, only not so sure which brand to take? I mean there's Cheetah, Scorpio... Any bros/gals here can advise on this?

You know... I thinking of having a Bol'Dors (S4 also can join lah!) get together and have a ride to Malaysia... What do you guys think?... :cheeky:

tt6389 is also using Garmin. Software seems really good, and 38 seems like a good buy for a GPS software like that. But how advanced is yours?

If you park your bike below your block, and do not often leave your bike away for long periods of time in a hostile environment, getting a simple, rather cheap 2-way alarm will do. A 1-way alarm only sounds, but you have no idea it sounds unless you are close to it. 2-way alarms usually have a remote that warn you if the alarm sounds, but they must be within their certain ranges. Scorpio is a good alarm but if your budget is tight then get something else.

Boldors can also use my forum for such chats, outing discussions, etc, if they are interested. The link is in my signature and I can easily add a section for Boldors. Cheers.

Hi bro panther,

Oh, don't be mistaken... it's $38 for the mount not any GPS software... My GPS is Etrex Legend.

A 2-way alarm... I really want to get one actually... Know of any place that sells & of good price?

Thanks in advance...

Gaofar p(^.^)q

Hi bro Gaofar, my scorpio works OK for me, I stayed in 5th level, my bike parked at 2level MCP. When alarm activates, my remote control will also vibrate & beep. But I must hang the remote very close to the window. But if your carpark is too far from your work or residence, then the 2 way alarm is meaningless. The Scorpio cost me $400 at Motorworld, but I think Fatbiker got a much cheaper 2 way alarm.

If you think of touring, I have 3 recommendations for short day trip.

1) http://www.sebanacove.com/virtual_view.htm .

2) There 's a water fall near Pulai , 36km from spore . Pulai Water Fall -

N 01deg38.030 E 103deg32.431 - can type into yr GPS.

3) http://klia.virtualmalaysia.com/destinatio...type=Hot+Spring --> This shows all 11 hotsprings in Malaysia. I have visited the one in Batu Pahat and planning to visit the one in Segamat the next couple of weeks. The name is Labis Hot Spring. During the durian seasons, bus loads of Singapore tourist go there for the durians and the hot spring. The distance is pretty short - can reach there within 2 hrs.

I think best time for touring to Malaysia is these few weeks - dry season and good weather. Going in group convoy is also safer - can take care of one another.

Hey bro tt6389,

Thanks for the advice... Actually I've just installed the Scorpio Alarm yesterday @ Motoworld... :cheeky: I went to install the 1-way alarm after much thinking decisions... I told the guy there that if by any chance after I tried out this 1-way for a few days & after which I feel like upgrading to the 2-way system, I just had to pay the difference...

Though after what you told me that you stay at 5th floor and the receptivity is already so poor?... :giddy: I stay on the 11th storey and my bike's at basement carpark leh... I thought the guy did mention to me that the range is good for 1Km for the 2-way?...

Can anyone with Scorpio alarm can verify it's range? 'Cause if the range is not what it's suppose to be, I just keep my 1-way system will do then.....

The Labis Hot Spring at Segamat sounds like a really interesting place to go! :cheer: I do believe that this will be an excellent opportunity for Bol'Dors to get together and have fun for a 1-day event! I am totally for it! What you guys think?

Gaofar, I confirm that the range (even Muji told me this himself at MotoWorld when I had it installed) is very dependent on how much interference between the alarm itself and the remote is present. One or two blocks is enough to overkill through interference and wipe out all sensor ability from your remote. Your alarm will still sound loud enough to wake the dead. It just matters if anyone cares.

The real deal is how you use it when you ride a lot to other places, whether it be local or overseas (like Malaysia). Add-ons like the perimeter sensor and the spare battery can really help you then.

By the way I switched to parking beneath my block, there are two blocks in between me and my MSCP (the one I used to park at). Now I get great sensor readings from anywhere in my house. I would say this shyt is daymn sensitive, amongst the best on the market, but you just got to know where, and how to use it.
