it wouldn't be approved unless LTA has records of it.

i really wonder why so many people think that bringing any exhaust for inspection and think that it will pass..

inspection is actually to ensure that installation is done correctly and the serial number is the same as the one in LTA's system. :faint:

Its more to verify that the pipe is as street-legal as its certifications from manufacturer and respective transport ministry claims.

That's why the emissions and sound test has to be conducted.

So wildcard is saying any pipe that is JMCA or Euro approved for a specific bike can be approved as it is installed properly and brought to be inspected and certified?

To my understanding, only Euro or Japan certifications are LTA-approved.

I'm not sure about US certifications. If anyone knows or have done otherwise, please comment here.

Question : After the bike is installed with the yet-to-be-approved pipes, can it be ridden to the inspection centre, or must it be towed over?

Can be ridden...

As long as you have the proper papers with you on the way to your inspection.

This is what the inspection centre told me.

My friend who was doing the certification with me couldn't get it done as he did not bring a few key documents along.

The next available time he could do it was 2 days later (the next day was Christmas).

The inspection centre told him as long as he kept the certificates as well as all the other necessary documentations he has for the pipes, he can still ride in public.

you need to get all the necessary papers from JMCA, but the catch here is, it might still not get approved. no doubts it might be stated as street legal, but if the data isn't in LTA database, it's still consider an illegal pipe.

best way, go thru your moriwaki agent in singapore. save the hassle.

Agreed.

Best is, just go through the inspection requirements and steps I described above with the necessary documentations.

But if you have a JMCA or Euro cert with the pipe, it should be pretty safe you will pass the inspection.

Euro and Jap emissions standard are some of the toughest in the world, if not the toughest.

Our emissions requirements are nothing compared to theirs.

I've got a prob..I jus receive a letter from Lta stating for me to have my aftermarket exhaust inspected. The tings to bring were the JMCA Reg. card and the letter.

Now, I didn't even have the JMCA Reg. card?

Still can inspect?

Technically, the vendor you bought it from is supposed to provide it.

So you may want to check with the organization you bought it from.

If they cannot provide, good luck....

Dun think so.

Better check with the shop you bought your pipes from.

So other things i would need to make sure i have is an invoice for the pipe, bring it to a shop and install it, get a letter from them. Then bring these two documents and my logcard plus IC to inspection den shouldnt be a problem. Is it like that? Wildcard or anyone can comfirm?

The thing is, I started this thread to relate the procedures of certifying an aftermarket exhaust bought from a reputable dealer.

That's all.

Yet I find it weird that people are asking me whether this brand and that brand of exhaust can pass or not. Like I'm a rept for LTA.

I say, better go back to the place you bought it from and check with the dealer. Do a research before buying.

If I can make that effort to make sure my exhaust system have a 90% chance of passing through LTA's requirements before I buy, I'm very sure each and everyone of you can do it also, right?

If anyone has gone through the inspection procedures and has something to share and add, fine and dandy.

Otherwise, I seriously cannot answer your question whether the pipe you bought will pass the inspection, JMCA-certified or EEC-certified or whatever.

I say again: I'm not an exhaust system dealer. Go back to the dealer you bought it from.

and to add onto wildcard's point.

a st legal pipe(in uk/us/overseas) doesn't mean it will definitely be approved as a st legal pipe on SG roads by LTA.

so, just get your pipe from local dealers. save the trouble and hassle.

May I know who distribute Arka exhaust. getting a second one. Anyone have any idea how much the change of ownership cost for Arkra? Checked with bike work about $50 seem a bit steep to me.

they are located behind the caltax station next to geylang NPC along paya lebar road.

the exhaust transfer fee is fixed by the distro. so bikeshop and distro will be giving you the same price.

Used to be, logacards are a certificate issued by LTA to indicate you are the owner of the bike of this registration, this VIN number and that engine number.

Nowadays, no more. All records kept online. You need to access it via onemotoring.com.sg website using your SingPass.
