Comprising of two compound, one is a Resin, and the other is the Hardener. You mix 2 part of Resin to 1 part Hardener until it becomes a smooth paste. Then you slap the paste onto whatever you want to patch. Apply heat, if you want it to cure faster.

It's easy to use by following the instructions.

You can definitely get it here but I can't recall now. Last week, I just threw my Devcon away because the Resin is spoilt as it's hardened.

But that's for external leaks right?

What about sealing it internally?

I've heard of a resin that you slosh around in an empty tank that seals all leaks internally. Sort of like those radiator sealants.

once it rusts... no "quick-fix" solution wil be able to totally "cure" the rusty piece of metal.. the rust will be back..

might be more worth to get a new tank. for all the trouble and a no sure fire kinda solution..

I agree with gabriel06. But CS if you still want to try, can go look for these two products called Kreem and POR15. Unfortunately, they are not readily available in SG, worse is that they are super tedious to use, lagi worse is that there are no guarantee that your efforts will be worth it.

In any case, here are the links

You can use Davcon internally or externally as long as your can smear the paste there.

You can't do that because the paste is not liquid enough to be slosh around. The Davcon mix is almost like any epoxy mix.

There are many ways to fix rust, But for DIY, you can at best only retard the rusting process.

POR-15 products are available in Singapore.

I wanted to use their product to restore the fuel tank of my Zephyr earlier. After considering the cost, time and effort that I need to put in. I decided to buy a new tank. Unless your tank is one of those discontinued-hard to get-super rare/expensive tank, I would suggest you get a new tank or a good condition used tank which is more cost effective :thumb:

OR you could look for a 2nd hand tank, check the internals, respray it and make sure your tank is full most of the time

That's a dangerous suggestion. Paint will slowly dissolve in fuel, and start to clog carb jet/injectors.

The rust will nt be back if coated with a coating that does not allow it to 'breathe'.

This is good info, when I wanted it a few years back, I had to get an australian friend to mail it to me.

Depends on the bike. For a RXK or RXZ tank, maybe better to buy new.

My ex-bike's tank cost $976 before GST. The POR-15 kit cost me less than $200 to buy and ship to me. I had to remove the fuel pump before using it, so add cost of fuel pump gasket (come to think of it, change tank also need new gasket!)

In any case, the kit worked great. Just following the instructions, it was simple. I brought the tank up to my house, went thru the steps, in a few days, my tank was ready for use again.

Before that, the rust was so bad, I had a pin hole leaking spurt petrol on my left leg!

i have used POR15 b4 on all my custom tanks. consists of a 3 part application. a cleaner to first clean the gunk and sludge inside the tank... followed by an acidic solvent/ rust converter to convert the internal rusts into oxides. this process has surface etching capabilities to prepare the internals for the final application of the POR15 chemical. its a paint like substance with petrol resistance qualities. tank needs to be BONE DRY b4 applicationof the POR 15.

It is also not advisable to coat the internals if u already have a paint job done.. all 3 process require the sloshing ard of the liquids internally.. spillage are bound to occur... and u dun want any of these chemicals on your paintjob....unless u are extra careful, when the POR15 chemical flows out through the bottom fuel petcock holes, its gonna stain your paint.. and if u dun wipe it off immedieately .. u wont be able to remove it once it hardens. thinner wont even help as it is already petrol resistant.

quite expensive as u need to purchase a min amount.. i forgot how many litres..
