wow you are rich!

if im you i will make do with the jacket and get the windshield. i believe motoworld has some nice 1 too

i'm not rich..nowhere near there! my wife bought it for me for our wedding anniversary! haha! Yeah, it's a jacket that I will not and cannot sell.. so I bought a GIVI windshield..the A660. I experience some wind buffeting on my helmet, but my shoulders do not seem to flutter that much. However, I didnt bring my jacket today, I'll have to try it tonight..and if it's still no go, i will need to adjust it..

Ahh... thanks for letting us know your biking experience. I'll have to assume that the jacket fits and isn't too large for you. Aren't there any velcro/buttons on the jacket to take up excess material where it's too loose? FYI, I ride with my jacket at all speeds the bike is capable of, with and without windshield. No flapping at all and certainly no wind buffeting issues that interfere with riding and/or controlling the bike.

Looks like there's a design flaw with this Dainese since others are also complaining about the same issue. Pssssttt... just sell it and get a Komine :p

True that.. the jacket fits perfectly..I believe the loose part is a construction issue.. it's such that even with velcro, it cannot be taken up, as the shoulder armor is in the way. =((

And I can't sell the jacket and I cannot buy another one! Well, like I mentioned above, I got myself a windshield..we'll see how it works when I'm on my jacket.

By the way, I managed to solve the scottoiler dispenser end. I used a thin wire and slotted in through the clear hose. Tied them up to the swing arm and then bent the wire with the hose to let it touch my sprocket. With that, I slotted in the black rigid piece and cable tied them all together. Works fine now, just that the small flexi piece of dispenser isnt on..

bro ramsnake, thanks for your help thus far. You are a nice guy.

Aiyah, can sell the jacket lah... I'm sure the wife understands if you explain the issue to her properly. No point keeping something that doesn't serve it's purpose as it's not like jewelery. Actually you'd probably get some money back if you sell and then get a Komine. Then can take her out to dinner! :thumb: LOL...

That windscreen looks huge! Hope it works for you.

Did you buy it from Mah? How much?

Why aren't you using the dispenser piece? 2 potential issues:

- Is the flow rate is ok with the wire?

- Wire scrubbing the sprocket might cause a weak point over time. Be careful, bro.

Hey brossss any meet up in the future???

Maybe it's time for a meet up. I want to check out kelena's windscreen!

There's another group meet for Super 4 riders this Friday but I won't be in town. Meet next week?

eh, how did you see my windscreen? I dont remember posting it here eh...

oh, the clear tube is still slightly touching the sprocket; the end of the wire is not touching the sprocket (hard to describe, but I'm sure you'll be able to understand, haha)

I checked the flowrate.. it is still working as intended, originally.

Yeah, we should have a meetup soon!

Is 15F/46R for sprockets gonna make a lot of difference in fc?

What are you trying to achieve, @killjou? I think I've mentioned before that fuel consumption is more of a riding habit than anything else. Be gentle with the throttle and maintaining speed over longer distances will improve fuel efficiency. Other than that, go on a diet and lose weight. This applies to both bike and biker. Seriously.

Adjusting gear ratios has only a slight effect on consumption but has more effect on acceleration and top speeds.

Stock ratio is 15/44. I think some Revos come with 15/45 as stock too. Going up to 15/46 will result in higher fuel consumption. Conversely reducing rear sprocket teeth count will improve fuel economy.

However, the above only applies within a certain range of tooth count or gear ratio. E.g. if you reduce rear sprocket size too much, say from 44 to 34 teeth, your consumption will go up. This is because the gearing final drive is too low to move the bike and you effectively. Thus the engine has to work harder (with you rev'ing more) just to get going from standstill. => higher fuel consumption.

Revo consumption numbers are in the range of 13.8-20km/L. (13.8 at high revs and speeds only).

Even if gear ratios can improve on those numbers, I would hazard a guess to say that it would be at most 0.5km improvement over the standard 20km/L. At best, add another 1km if you are a patient rider and can take your time moving off from traffic lights.

95RON fuel in SG is now $2.12/L. Do the math to see if such savings is worth the slower acceleration from the lights.

actually im just really into cost savings.

i mentioned this setup as i have a friend who is letting go this rear sprocket, which is 46T and ran 200km only, at a really low price.

reluctant at first, as i don't need the better pick up, but if i can save a decent amount of money, including getting a new x-ring chain and front sprocket, why not? as i do intend to invest in scottoiler soon as well.

i'm still a university student, just commuting to work and sch(both less than 5km away) and pillioning my gf, so comfort and savings are top priorities. do not want to have a drastic change like what you mentioned about 44T to 34T that eats up petrol.

glad to know this setup does not affect much unless i push it to. thanks for the info @ramsnake!

i read somewhere that it would be good to change out an entire set of chains and sprockets..

you mentioned that the 46T one that has run 200km. Do you know the actual condition of the sprocket?

If your new chain gets shagged by the sprocket (assuming the above is true), then it would cost a little bit more, isn't it?

The sprocket teeth are like brand new condition, just that the sides some parts a slight discoloration from the chain used before. Decided to go for 525 as the rear sprocket is 525 pitch and I'm always pillioning, I need longevity more.

Look what I found hiding behind the front sprocket cover!

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/03/sy3upaze.jpg

Big chunks of black oil pieces fell off during the cleaning.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/03/ury9a3ub.jpg

Used OWS cleaner to removed all the dirt and grime. And viola!

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/03/3ugenute.jpg

It's true +2 rear sprocket increases the pick up just by a teenie weenie bit, but its totally manageable and I can be as smooth and relaxed pick up as usual. What I really feel the difference is no more vibrations from the bike while moving! And no more vibrations at footpegs and handlebar!

Which sprocket recommended?? Driven, AFAM or ISA??

I've read that they are all about the same, unless talking about steel or aluminum.

Heard from a mechanic that Afam lasts just a bit longer than the rest. Go for driven if you want the colors, and ISA if you're a fan of Japan made products.

Oh ok. If all the same might as well go for colours. Thnx bro

Haha I would've gone for a black driven rear sprocket if not because of wasting a perfectly fine condition ISA sprocket.

Black sprocket and gold chain is gooood. Anyways I'm a Japan fan so ISA is not that bad either.

Most bike shops that sell accessories like motorworld, unique, HLC, HKL etc sell them. I used to use them until they burned a hole in my wallet and switched to kerosene. You can also use diesel if you can buy it easily.

Chain cleaners in a spray can costs on average $10. Good for about 6-10 cleaning jobs. One 1L bottle of kerosene can use for 20-25 times. You do the maths! :p

U mean chains cn be cleaned using kerosene? Wont spoil the chain?

U using 520 or 525?

I am using 525 set up with coloured chain and scootoiler vsystem and i always pillioning so i need more durable ones "DAILY" commuting around 1xx plus km to work and to JB for petrol ... LOL ... :thumb:

Kerosene, diesel and petrol are cheaper alternatives to chain degreasers in a can. They are all chain o-rings friendly. BTW, those degreasers in a can are also like kerosene, diesel and petrol in that they are all crude oil derivatives.

Always re-lube after cleaning.

Compared to degreasers in a can, yes kerosene is smelly. But how is it "extremely messy" or worse than using degreasers in a can? To me using a spray can is more messy as most of the time, too much is sprayed out of the can. You also end up spraying the degreaser on the tyre, rim, and other areas.

The way to apply kerosene is by using a 2 inch paint brush. Dip brush into kerosene in a small container (plastis cap of spray can or some tin/plastic cup. Apply onto entire chain. As you reach the last section of the chain, the kerosene would have already done it's job to degrease the old lubricant and debris stuck to it. Spray with water to wash off.

If you are cleaning a chain that hasn't been cleaned for a long time, it's worthwhile to apply kerosene a second time and wash off again. Lastly, I use Muc-off bike cleaner to clean any oily remnants of the kerosene left on the chain. This is a great product! If you don't use Muc-off, clean with your regular bike shampoo.

LOL... I've seen bike mechs who smoke while cleaning bike parts with petrol! :thumb:

Hmm... this is a topic worth exploring... :)

Assuming average mileage in SG is about 20,000km a year, how often would you change a 525 pitched chain and sprocket set? 2 years? 3 years?

Haha... Maybe ... i guess this topic will not end cos different people also have different thinking/opinion...

My advise is we all riders have to take a good care for our chain and sprocket and lubricate it as required for longevity...

For my self i change my sprocket around once a year cos my mileage is around 100K for a year ...
