I believe the new selling price will be at least between S$1.5k and S$2k more than the current model.

You're welcome... :)

You can download a soft copy of the manual. I've posted the link before. It's now on the FAQ thread.

Agreed. But those who have the service manual are too scared to share because of KopiLight issues (they say) and SBF won't allow it to be shared on their site. Boo hoo....

@breadman

:dot: Not so fast, mate!

Nope. Sorry, but there's nothing rough about the indicator and leaving the bike on the side stand will give you the wrong reading.

Changing oil every 5,000km, which I don't recommend, doesn't mean that you don't have to check the oil level.

If you can see the oil in the sight glass when the bike is on the side stand, there is too much oil in your engine.

Check oil level when engine is warm, i.e. 2-3 minutes after idling for 3-5 minutes.

Refer page 41 of User Manual.

(Tried to upload image of page but SBF isn't working...)

just to check... isn't the starting of the engine is just to confirm that your engine is able to maintain engine oil pressure?

according to the manual u have to switch off the engine after the oil pressure light goes off and wait for a couple of minutes to ensure that oil flows back down into the 'container' and not sticking onto the pistons so that u can have a more accurate level.

not to challenge you but just to cfm my knowledge

Low oil pressure can also be caused by insufficient engine oil on the sump.

Starting the engine to warm up the bike is a good practice..can check for leaks..especially after changing oil filter. Untorqued oil drain plug which we humans at times forget or even leaks thats was there all along but no attention was paid...

Me. Check your chassis number. If it's on the list, call them to re-confirm (65139326). Then make appointment.

Recall for owners of CB400, if your motorcycle VIN range within the following numbers:

JH2NC429*8K010001 to JH2NC429*8K010070

JH2NC429*9K100001 to JH2NC429*9K100053

JH2NC429*AK200001 to JH2NC429*AK200160

JH2NC429*BK300001 to JH2NC429*BK300393

thanks for the info but in this case we were discussing about whether checking engine oil level need to warm up engine and letting it settle for a few minutes.

@justforme

Don't worry about challenging me or anyone else, for that matter. This is a public forum and it is good to ask for clarifications or to correct wrong information posted. Anyone who has a problem with being questioned on their post, is just too egoistic, and perhaps shouldn't be here in the first place.

Starting the engine and then ensuring that the oil pressure light goes off serves 2 purposes:

- Testing Sensor Operation: If there is enough oil and oil pump is working properly, oil pressure light must go off. If it doesn't go off, then the sensor needs to be checked.

- Testing Oil Pressure - If the light remains on, it is an indication of low pressure. Check for 2 things - sufficient oil and pump operation.

Honda recommends starting the bike first primarily to ensure that the oil pressure sensor & light is working properly as well as to ensure that the oil pump is operating.

Because Honda prioritise checking that the sensor and pump is working fine, they then calibrated the sight glass is to measure oil level when the oil is warm. This also takes into consideration how much oil remains in the upper section of the engine.

So, the way to check oil level may differ from one manufacturer to another.

Think its about rear stop switch corrosion issue, hence they'll just replace the switch? Corrct me if i'm wrong.

Anyway, its a small matter, not a major life threathening defect.

This is the part that may be faulty. The connector may be corroded resulting in brake lights not being activated when applying rear brakes. They will check the part for corrosion. Whether or not they replace the part or just clean/repair the part depends on the level of corrosion.

Mine was replaced.

Gd morning guys.

Been noticing a slight oil leak at the part where my sidestand meets the ground.

The oil looks clean, unlike engine oil colour.

Anyone familiar with this? Where the leak is from?

Water pump leak is oil? If its water pump then should be leaking coolant right?

Not really, if the water pump not working well, some engine oil may seep in n tats why u could see oil leaking from water pump.
