Hi Guys, how much does a Pair of Showa rear shock Price?

Was quoted by Chong Aik 1=SGD850 2=1700

This price i feel ridiculous because i can buy other branded rear shocks.

Try Ebay..think it be cheaper. Long time ago..a pair is about $1.2k the most. Try KBY..around $600 for a pair..great suspension too.

Ohlins 142 new one $1040 at unique. New showa cost $900 at unique. You sell $1000 for second hand one. GOOOD LUUCK for your sale. Thanks.

Is them still selling the ohlins 142 at $1040?

Au5h,

Yup, you may face this with models of that age (I did). My mech advised me to change shocks also... mine now GaZi...

strictly technically speaking, even with the scratches on the inside, still can rebuild but like what your mech said, it may leak again eventually.

which motor shop did you go to, btw?

just my $0.02

Hi Bro, can advice me on the price and where to install for the gazi.. my model is Ver s.. Thanks.

That's a real bad advise..if ur back suspension is a SHOWA..go for a RELIABLE total rebuild at Teck Thye for half the cost and it include a Spring Coil spacer to enhance ur rebound rate. If your shocks are leaking..no spring replacement is gonna solve the problem..again..STUPID recommendation!

I took up Unique Motorsports Ohlins Front Spring package for CB400 at $320.

The package includes:

- Ohlins Fork Springs x 2pcs

- Fork oil seals x 2pcs

- Fork Dust covers x 2pcs

- Fork oil

- Installation

Problems I encountered previously were the original front fork springs were too soft for my liking and it affects the handling and controlling of the bike.

Whenever I accelerate, the bike pulls me back and the front would feel very light as the weight has shifted behind. When the throttle is closed or the front brakes are used, the bike would dive in front which I feel the weight shifted to the front very quickly. During emergency braking, the rear tire would not have enough surface contact-grip or even lifted off the tarmac as the bike dives in front and lifted up the rear resulting in a “stoppie” situation which is dangerous. The acceleration and deceleration as resulted from soft front suspension would affect the manoeuvring of the bike and indirectly compromise the safety of the rider.

After I swap out the original fork spring and change to the Ohlins ones, my ride has been consistently smooth and stable unlike the “see-saw” or “horse-riding” experience previously encountered.

Whoever feels that their front forks are too soft which has affected the manoeuvring of the bike, do take up this Ohlins front fork spring package or when it’s time for fork servicing, you can consider taking up this offer as well.

If you ask me, it’s worth the money as it’s a one-time change of the springs which could endure lifelong usage as quality do come at a cost.

Hi need advice. My right showa rear suspension is leaking. Thinking either to buy a new one or rebuild. If rebuild, i need estimate 1 month before i can send my shock to rebuild regarding on budget is tight right now. At the same time, i still use my bike to go to work with pilion. Is it adviseable if im still use my bike eventhough my shock is leaking? If i choose to rebuild, is it can guarantee to last long because im use my bike for daily commute with heavy pilion? If i choose to buy a new one, which shock can give me a good handling and heavy duty?

Thanks in advance
