yo sis... i will suggest investing your moola on this latest and top of the range FF from HJC, superb reviews from motorrad. i will assume it will be cheaper and yet better than shoei x-11 or x-12...

hm i tried the top of the range hjc carbon fiber helmet b4... during a crash it slid forward on my head and the inside of the chin bar left an abrasion on my chin... nt good

still prefer arai... it is a good helmet.

heard good reviews about shoei so im thinking of getting that next...

but worst come to worst maybe i get back arai la

I was at Regina this weekend asking about their Shoei X11. They still stock some (there are X11s and X12s on display), but were too busy to check if they had the Elias replica in red and in my size for me :( I then went over the Chong Aik. Higher starting prices, but service is MUCH better and a pretty large selection on display. I am aware that they close at 6pm, so not suitable for your needs.

aha... maybe the helmet doesnt fit you that well... hence the internal movement when you crashed...

the R-PHA 10 is a totally different helmet from the CF HQ-1, this is the helmet currently used by Ben Spies in motogp...

i have to clarify im not a spokesman for HJC or a employee from motorworld! lol!

:) I'm pretty sure I saw the RFX there as well, on higher shelves. The ones at eye level were all nice, shiny X11s and X12s. :)

Oh yea... other shops for Shoei include the one opposite Chiap Lee on Serangoon Rd (I haven't been there yet thought, just know from reading posts here) and Team HKL Racing (who seem to get their stock from Chong Aik). Team HKL seem to be open after 6pm http://www.teamhklracing.com/contactUs.htm

thanks! i think i will drop by team hkl first since its next to my workplace

then if they dont have rfx... i will go to regina (nt very keen on tt shop as i do not like to wait and wait while they promise me that they have a particular helmet, and then fetch it in all the wrong sizes :p)

aha... maybe the helmet doesnt fit you that well... hence the internal movement when you crashed...

mmm they told me that too... but tt is already the smallest size tt they had so i dont know what would be the right size for me... plus the shell is huge and makes me look like a space alien

but i agree hjc is very value for money and decent protection, just that i am not very impressed by the workmanship of their "top of the line" helmets

seriously my hq-1 looked erm... carelessly made... even the printing of the design was out of the lines and they didnt cut alot of the helmet wrapping properly... sigh

but for the price i guess i cant really complain

Completely agree bro. Ah Loong at Regina is generally very nice to deal with IMO but he's away until Thursday, so you'll have to deal with the others. And I know exactly what you mean about the 'wait and wait' part. Sometimes it's worth paying $20 more to an establishment that makes you feel valuable as a customer.

Good luck with your purchase, swiftee! Post pics if you do buy!

:) The listed price at CA for the X11 is $730, but you can get it lower if you're a cash buyer. The RFX is meant to be S$370, but I didn't really check when I was last there.

try it for yourself and come to your own conclusion. i've tried it, and it's an great helmet! why shoei and arai and agv so ex? quality is one thing. put in the major factor of professional riders like Rossi, Pedrosa, etc wearing these brands, i believe this factor alone is worth up to 50% of the price... :thumb:

ok i placed an order for a white shoei z6... hope it comes in tomorrow

i did not buy it from regina cause last time i recall they sold me a suspiciously reconditioned-looking helmet. ok i dont mind buying a cheap recon helmet that im going to trash and throw away, but not one for $500 that would be crazy

bought it from the shop opposite regina with all the shoei. the price they quote me is slightly cheaper than chong aik price. ok i don't mind, the salesman need to earn too.

shockingly, the cheapest arai (profile) at chiap lee is now $600. basket i recall buying mine at $500++ one year ago

if u ever crashed in an arai vs a normal helmet... you will take your money and go back to buy one of those high end helmets... never mind the price

no concussion, nothing. hit the ground, stand up as though you just got out of bed

plus when arai says its not going to fog, it really doesnt fog, doesnt collect those annoying water streaks that make it impossible to see

my hjc (hq-1 lordship) had a constant fogging problem and didnt repel water from the visor well, i had to treat it with rain x in order to be able to see

finish on even the top end hjc is really poor, you can see all the little bits of helmet wrapping (for the design) that the worker cut away when fitting it on the helmet and they didn't even clean it off the helmet before putting on the clear coat!

plus the printing of the lines on the graphic are very untidy

i was looking at the helmet and the workmanship, could not believe this is their top end helmet

(and this is a $400 helmet we're talking about)

protection wise, hjc is rather decent, kept my head sane and together

pretty good value for money if you're not picky, would trust it over the china brands any day

but i still like arai more, for the peace of mind, and for the luxurious feel, plus arai shape is very beautiful :p

shoei shape seems a bit more toot... but looks rather well put together. lets see if shoei can change my mind :3

btw for those considering the rfx... pls bear in mind that the cushion is not removable! such a turn off... D:

w/o a slightest doubt, brands like arai, shoei, agv, etc makes competition and top notch quality helmets. :thumb:

personally, i feel it's overpriced, call me poor or whatever... hahaha! i think we paying quite a bit for the brand name and also due to the fact of the number of professional riders representing the brand.

i find HJC the best bang for buck w/o compromising performance and quality, especially the latest HJC R-PHA 10. shell is not made of carbon firbe, yet it is still lighter than HJC HQ-1 (carbon fibre look or lordship).

erm... if im nt wrong all helmets have to be replaced after sustaining impact

cause the helmet is designed to absorb the shock instead of passing it to your head

so in a way, helmet is a one-use-only kind of thing

so even if it is not badly damaged on the outside, it's better to replace it

Nice! I was going to get a white X11 myself, but got tempted with graphics and ended up getting one with some white in it, but mostly graphics!

bought the crystal white z6... it is very beautiful, looks like the stig's helmet

(the arai profile is more beautiful though)

comfort wise its pretty good, impressive build quality. crystal white for the shoei is a little more subdued than for the arai... but thats fine with me i like it subdued

however the helmet is extremely noisy... like extremely... its the noisiest helmet ive owned

(i didnt install the thing around the chin area so im not sure if that makes a difference)
