Honda X4 Owners

Hi, I'm new to these forums. I have a '98 Honda X4 and am interested in getting either aftermarket pipes (better sound) or an original replacement for the right-side pipe (current one has scratches from a previous life). Any of you fellow X4 owners have any experience with either of these? Quite a rare model, and relatively restricted with options for aftermarket pipes on any bike in SG from what I understand - so both options seem challenging to me at this stage - interested to hear if others have "gone before me" on this one? Actually I have no feel for how many other X4 owners there are in SG - so be pleased to hear from you regardless :-)

Thanks, Richard.

Just an advice if you're considering wrapping your pipe. If there are official Honda marking on your pipe, pls don't remove the old metal sheet with the markings and replaced them with generic sheets without markings - you might get a warning during annual inspection (passed with conditions saying they are not responsible if caught by LTA).

Current advice I received is to wrap the new sheet over the old but leave the marking seen... not sure how it will look like.

Ah ok - thx for the advice. As far as I can see there is no Honda markings on the pipes - these are just the original/factory Honda chrome fat & stubby X4 pipes. They're very effective at damping the noise - perhaps too much so for my likings. I totally want to get something street-legal for SG so it just flies thru inspection etc. Was originally sold the bike partly on the argument that "it's a Honda - parts are so easy to find etc." - but I suspect that a rare-model (i.e. short production run of only a few years) of any brand means some parts/mods are difficult to find/do. While the engine is effectively a CB1300, the frame/layout is unique so external parts like exhausts are very specific to this model. Hence keen to know if there's anyone else in SG who's successfully done this before?

Cheers...

LTA laws are very rigid, to the point that they will say "scrap your bike if you can find a legal replacement part".

Your case might be very tricky. First you need to find a pipe meant for your bike, with official maker proof. Then LTA needs to accept the proof. Then you can install it. They dun go by "same cc bikes can use same pipe" rule.

Hope you can find your pipe one day :)
