hi guys, i am just curious if there is any difference of rpm and speed in the many types of super4 found on the roads. i am riding a version s and my findings for my bike while cruising is as follows:

FQ Plate, Version S, (RPM vs SPEED)

-----------------------------------

5000rpm - 90km/h

5500rpm - 95km/h

6000rpm - 100km/h

6500rpm - 110km/h

7000rpm - 120km/h

Running on Caltex97(JB)

Average of 6000rpm

380km /tank

My weight: 95kg

wondering if any other super4 types have differences in rpm and speed, in respect to different version of super4, weight, number of years used and the petrol used.

version S stock sprocket size is 42T. vtec1,2,3 stock is 44T, so there is bound to be "rpm relative to speed" differences

yah, there will be differences, dat why i ask.. a 44T sproket size will give wat speed at 6000rpm, if dont mind me asking.. super curious here.

but the faster the acceleration too right?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Bro, I think you're running on a bigger rear spocket. Yours should be 44 or 45 teeth. Cos mine(42teeth) is running at 110 at 5500rpm. try check you rear spocket.

wah psyence, 110km/hr at only 5500rpm? dats more like it.. coz i cruise more often on the expressway.. lower rpm means lower petrol consumption rite?

any stress on engine if use lesser teeth sprocket?

lesser teeth, means cover more distance with minimun effort made which is measured by 'rpm', subjected to cruising style of ride. just like u riding bmx bicycle, u cycle 1 time, bike can go far but acceleration will be slower.

u imagine riding bmx (the one with smaller rear sprocket) then ride ur bike up to a slope. tiring right? if more tired, means ur rpm soaring high = high petrol consumption, muscle sore means engine wear & tear higher. if leg muscle pain can put tiger balm, if engine overhaul, cannot put tiger balm.. haha..

also u must take into consideration that which type of riding style are you. gila-gila type (abit2 wack) - i suggest stick to stock settings. if uncle-uncle style (slow-joe) type, why not change to lesser teeth. But! also take note, if your ride needs to have pitstops all the time, (traffic conditions, city riding, etc.) also no point coz bike need to stuggle abit more to reach desired speed before shifting up to another gear. in short, the chances of you dragging the lower gear is longer then usual so more petrol consumption in the aceleration period. as for me lah, most of the time i travel KJE, SLE and into the main roads, 80% green lights. so no problem lah.

and so the answer to your question.. u change lesser teeth wrong, change to more teeth also wrong. haha.. either u waste petrol in acceleration part or u waste petrol along the journey. which one u want? all depends on u. on the engine stress part, you just see your rpm meter, how much you wack for a speed that you always ride. if for example u wack 8000rpm for a 40km/h all the time, engine tired easily. so i hope you understand my crap lah. heh.
