Your case is no more servcing...its that + change of fork seal and you have to change them in pairs. Here is what they do....

Remove the pair of forks from your bike and disassemble your fork set into three parts. The removeable of the fork oil seal is the hardest and do how they remove it and make sure the mechanic DONT SCRATCH or NICK the upper stanchion tube (that's the upper tube of your fork).

Draining and cleaning of fork oil off the lower stancjion tube, spring (petrol washed) and inner stanchion fork tubes. Don't have to replace the spring normally unless you want harder ones from 3 party market. The only thing that need to be replaced are a pair of new fork seal, fork oil and MAY BE the soft metal spacer (consider a seal also that seat just above the lower stanchion tube).

just some correction on your part. the hardest part of fork servicing is not the removal of the oil seals and dust covers. the hardest part is the proper installation of the oil seals.

and in order to remove the fork seals from a s4 fork, which is a telescopic fork, the fork tubes have to be totally removed from the lower legs before you are able to remove the seals.

for USD fork, the seals are usually remove together when the lower fork tubes are separated from the upper fork tubes.

and of course, removal of the C-clips have to be done first.

cheers!

Hi aRcHeR...thanks for the correction but what I meant by hardest part in removal is that I have seen mechanics struggling to remove it. There are some cases of rust and heavily cracked up seal cover..and the assembly can get very stubborn and hard to come off.

Sometime you see these mechanic start prying with a flat head screw driver to get out the dust cover and dig at the seal when its off. They do know their job and are very careful but unforseen circumstances do happened like the screw driver slipping and nick the stanchion tube (happened to mine). Once nicked..this very small (almost naked to the eye) depression act as a 'trough' and brings up fork oil even after a new seal and dust cover is installed.

Installing it is usally fast and quick and I agreed with you about "rpoper installation"..normally they have a tool sorta like a heavy ring slider that they use to knock the seals (also there is a spacer that might need to be change if its damage by rust caused by water leakage in fork oil) in place.

Again..thanks for contribution to my message here.

Sori...think not becasue I did my back suspension there not the front. My guess is about $120 to $150...but do bargain and look "poor".

Better not lah sure affected your handling..Honda has done a lot of R&D and test on the design before manufacturing your bike the way it is now..its the best it can be for handling. So I think not, the thing I can recommend is to adjust the handle bar back or fore to suit your comfort..bekuz of different ppl having different arm length and riding posture.
