Don't give up. I took 3 attempts for practical 1. Now I'm stuck with practical 2 - keep falling off the plank and already went practical 2 twice. I do see some improvement though. On my 1st practical 2 I only cleared the plank one out of 5 or 6 times, 2nd practical 2 about 3 out of 5 or 6 times. Hopefully I can keep improving.

Hi netbuddybee, you try when u go up the plank faster then when u on the plank u clutch in and tap the brake 6times. That's my trick of doing plank, learn from the cdc post posted by rijac long time ago. But it works.

Hi samick thanks for the tip, I'll try this out on my next lesson. Guess one tap on rear brake is approximately 1s so 6 taps should help clear the 6s requirement.

I was horrible with the plank! In fact, it's my most feared technical station. But I've learnt to overcome it. Here's my "trick".... Look at the test rules - if you fall off the plank, it's IMMEDIATE FAILURE. If you take less than 6 seconds, you get some demerit points in your test. So, with that in mind, I kept going "fast". Like 5.9s, 5.8s, 6.1s.... Work on being able to GO THROUGH the plank first. Now that I know I can go through the plank without dropping, my confidence increased. Then I started to work on timing. Now I'm able to do about 7secs or so.

And, like almost everyone else tells me - look straight! Don't look down! Think of yourself as walking on a tightrope - tightrope walkers NEVER look down!!

For plank, I will get up the plank, let it roll, clutch control. When reaching the utmost end, I will brake and kinda hold it there to earn more time.

Thanks to the advice from seniors I managed to clear lesson 2 after 4 attempts. I think the instructor also give chance, otherwise I'll probably be repeating. I think the most important part is to relax upper body and especially the elbows so that fine adjustments can be made to the bike's direction. I've been told I'm too stiff.

1. Position bike so that it is in line with the plank, check back right

2. I tell myself I'm moving off normally, and i give it the normal amount of throttle for moving off, while keeping eye point somewhere in the middle of the plank

3. Once both wheels are up on the plank, i'll reduce throttle while maintaining half-clutch and let the bike roll while making small left/right adjustments to the handle bar through relaxed elbows to keep the bike going straight. Now i try to look at the cone at the end of the plank

4. I didn't use foot brake or clutch-in this lesson, but I think i should to help slow down further

I still feel I need more practice on plank, so hopefully I can do more of that in later circuit revisions.

Yeah, you can keep practising during CRs and just speak out one thousand one, 2 thousand 2, till the timing. This gives you a gauge on how long you are on the plank.

I was also told that I was stiff. But practice will definitely help you. Soon you will be fine.

Thanks FTW I certainly hope I'll improve once I reach the CR stage. I heard CRs are own time own target? So that means you grab a bike and do whatever circuit, eg plank, slope that you want? Are CR time slots more readily available compared to the other practical lessons?

Yup! For CRs you can practise anything u want on the level one circuit. Just go choose the ones with the shortest queue or go through the circuit test route. It is avail everyday such that you can have CR every other day if u like. Haha

hey there, can anyone tell me what i need to bring to my prac 0? and do i need to wear long sleeves?

Orientation no need to bring anything. Maybe good to be in jeans and covered shoes cos orientation, you will practise pushing the bike from the main stand.

Long sleeves not required in SSDC.

Passed Class 2B last year, finally passed Class 2A today :)

Anyway, for helmet wise you can buy TRAX ZR helmet. It is available online @ carousell for $48. You can even add on tinted visor (Not recommended because I got caught by TP once)

Hello everybody!

Thanks to Kayden91 for starting this thread! I think it will be very useful for the new learners.

I just signed up for 2B lessons least week! Need to clear leave so thought might as well learn something useful. Going for my 4 theory lessons this week.

Just some questions from a blur old man - I read some posts mentioning "orientation". I did not see this on the brochure. Is this practical lesson 1? Also, it seems that I can take my time to clear riding theory/eval/test because practical lesson 1-5 will take some time to clear?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Orientation is a lesson where the instructor will show you the different practical test stations on PowerPoint and then bring you to try release bike from main stand, put it back on main stand etc. It's a prerequisite before starting any practical lesson.

Yes you can take your time for theory if you like, as clearing practical take time. I was told to take RTT only after practical 4.

I dun recommend taking rtt after prac 4 as the waiting time for rtt is about 1-2month. Imagine if you clear prac 5-7within a month. U have to wait for your rtt then u can book your tp.

For rtt I recommend is to clear asap. To avoid waiting issue. Anyway rtt is valid for 1 year so I dun think it will be a issue.

Hi guys, just to share a small info...

whether the RTT take before/after Practical 4 that it depends on the trainees how fast that he/she learning as some are fast learner & some are slow.

So fast learner should not be a much problem on skill just during the TP (that depends luck).

As slow learner then skills need to be polish & during TP for the 1st time can't make it (touch wood) still can carry on book TP again (without worry the RTT expire date soon) seem after Practical 4 then go for RTT.

Safe riding. 😊

Thanks folks for the advice. I have feedback to them via their website that the "orientation" module is not stated in the training structure.

I thought it is in the training structure. But it is know as practical 0.
