New bike questions

Hi Guys,

 

TP in around 1 months time. Looking at some bikes and have some burning question.

 

- Should I buy direct or from a shop? If shop, which shop is reputable?

- Looking at auto bikes. Which brand and model is low maintenance and if repair not so expensive?

well, heard that if you wanna go Class 2A a year later then then getting a manual bike is better

if you are newbie in buying bikes, i suggest you buy from shop. For eg, Uniquemotor, albert motor, Looi's, MAh etc. boon siew for honda motors. some shops have fb.

however, for auto, i guess only scooters have auto gears. get a japanese brand like honda, yamaha. theirs parts are easy to get and maintenance wise depends on the rider.

Ya...Dun get Italian scooters. Jap more reliable n parts cheaper. Avoid the gilera 200

Dun straight away think that first bike must get from bike shop. The common practise is get someone experience and go view bike together, be it bikes for shops or bikes from private sellers. Visit a few, then in the end decide whether getting a bike from shop is more worthy or not.

 

Idea is: put in more effort during this learning curve.

one thing for sure is bike from shop confirm more expensive as they may service the bike, ie replace parts before selling and also provide warranty for engine...

actually, assuming that we're talking about a 2nd hand bike, can our more experienced friends in the forum list out what are the pros and cons of buying direct vs. buying from shop? And maybe what to look out for etc.
