What must I bring for a petrol trip into Malaysia? Like roughly how much Ringgit? Do I need cashcard?

I know Insurance, Road Tax (Read somewhere in the forum, got people that get summon for not carrying it in Malaysia, I wonder why its any of their concern to have a Singapore Road Tax for Malaysia Roads), License and Passport is compulsary.

I'm planning to go by Woodlands, but I'm not sure of the route, I only know how to get to the Woodlands checkpoint. Do I need to fill any White Card & roughly what's the best time to go in? Also its unsafe to go alone right? Planning to pump V-Power.

Wah u 1st timer ah!! but u Tee Pee liao!!

if u wanna go in via Woodlands u might want top up Mobil or Caltex first since u 1st timer coming in..Shell V-Power is slightly further up.maybe once u get use to JB road then can ask ard how to get to Shell. Shell nearest to chkpt in jb got no V-Power..

No need white card, just present passport..also no toll required for bikes.

Best times to go IN JB:

Morning

- 1000 hrs to 1230 hrs

(1.45pm start rush hour coming back to S'pore for afternoon shift workers who start work at 3pm---SUPER LONG Q)

Afternoon

- 1300 hrs to 1500 hrs tops

(rush hour workers going back JB starts at 1530 hrs)

Evening + Night

- VERY LATE!! road for bikes will be cleared at 3am onwards...(not applicable on wkends though)

so usually pple tend to go in via 2nd link at nite..road clear by 2230 hrs.

TeePee for show only, I always pump in Singapore, and 2B bike all the way, just change to Class 2 bike, FC not as good anymore.

Thanks. So basically I'll need to follow:

1) Passport

2) Malaysia Money

3) Road Tax, Insurance, License (All this just in case got guai lan TP there)

4) Cashcard?

5) Singapore Money?

I just checked my Passport, its the new type, don't need to ensure got what 12 months validity all those right like those old Passport? Just make sure the Passport haven't expire correct?

For Caltex or Mobil, which Petrol do you guys pump, got choice one or not, like Singapore got 5000, 8000. Or over there its just Unleaded? I read before about 2 years back in this forums, Mobil has the Mobil F1 petrol?

pump wat ever u feel like pumping lah

Before I cross over, I'm just checking if there is a selection of 2000, 5000, 8000 so on so forth. From what I know through people who talk (I haven't gone before to know anyway, and you know Singaporean talk at times or most of the time is inaccurate or muddled), there's only Diesal, Leaded and Unleaded, that's it. No selection whatsoever. So I'm just checking here if that's true, which I'm still awaiting answer to clarify.

Thanks mordecai1968 too for clarifying the Caltex one, no Platinium there I suppose?

haven't seen any platnium...

but for class 2 bike u should not worry .......

i find i got better mileage if i use lower octane like ron 92... from shell

most of the time i go for petronas.feel okay

esso is quite smooth

shell can feel the ummph

caltex is as good as petronas to me

BTW most of the petrol are good ....the only i advise to avoid is BHP the throttle feels like 5hit after i top up...but it still moves the bike...u could use them in emergency.

my last tank of petrol i pumped was the cheaper one at Esso, red color wan. actually feels smoother at lower revs, very nice. :thumb: i won't rule out the possibility that it's all psychological

anyway, no real issues from myself with cheaper petrol not good for engine lah, less powerful lah etc etc.
