hey guys, I'll be going overseas for a few months, wondering if anyone knows a workshop that would help me store and maintain my speed triple. I'm sure there will be a fee involved, just wanna know if you guys have any suggestions? short of leaving it to a sub ride, i want my bike to be taken care of while I'm away. Thanks everyone

u would trust & pay a workshop than a friend?

would you trust your friend with your wife? not a very simple question to answer is it...

in my opinion, its better not to jeopardize a friendship because of disputes that might arise from any problems that your sub-rider might encounter on something as technical as a bike, especially one like ours. disputes such as "how come my bike now sounds so rough" or "eh, the brake pad worn out" or "what! accident?? are you gonna pay for my bike? who's fault was it?" or "how come got leak ah" just serves to complicate matters. one could say that with a bike shop you would face the same problems though.

So now, has anyone heard of a workshop or even Mah providing this storage service for people going overseas for awhile? A professional place of business that you know are run by honest people who won't chop our bikes up for parts. Thanks for your suggestions!

"would you trust your friend with your wife? not a very simple question to answer is it... "

Well it depends if you have given your friend permission to have a ride now and again.

or

Keep an eye out to make sure all is well.

You must have some interesting friends........

I know Mah charge a fee for you keeping your bike at their place, but it will be knocking around the place and will have the general public poking and proding it. Not a place I would feel comfortable leaving my bike or wife.

I saw a beautiful orange S3 on the AYE before Normanton Park Exit on 19th April morning. I am sure it belongs to someone from this group. :thumb: Btw I was riding a red Cagiva Gran Canyon when I rode pass him on the outside lane.

I had taken over a 1st Generation 1996 S3 from a friend and doing it up again. Its in bits and pieces now. I hope to join you guys for a gathering once its back together again.

Thanks for the suggestion Crazytown. I was thinking of asking Mah actually, since they're the authorized dealer. I've had instances where I left my bike with a friend to warm up now and again, but when I get back, it never seems to start properly, and I would have to transport it to a workshop. Granted, those were not my current speed triple, but I don't know how this bike is gonna react to non-riding, so I figured I wouldn't take the chance.

Seeing as to how you never answered the qn of whether you would trust your friend with your wife, it's safe to say that it really isn't a simple question to answer then. its an analogy which may have been a little crude, and I apologize for not picking a more direct one. but at the same time, people shouldnt really be taking it literally should they. For one thing, I wouldnt give my friend permission to ride her now and again. would you? and asking your friend to keep an eye on her, well, thats a whole different matter altogether now isnt it. its not my friend who i dont trust, its human nature. as to whether i have interesting friends, yes I do. I'm sorry if you have boring ones. Thats a separate matter though, one which I brought up just for the fun of it. As you can tell, I'm parodying the usual forum bickering that people get up to because I think its a waste of time. Mind you, the bickering is a waste of time, not this forum. I think this forum is excellent, and although I have not participated as much as others, I have been actively following it for awhile now.

Therefore, please feel free to quote me and point out any sentence that you take offence to, and type out your carefully thought out rebuttal. How ironic then that I should write such a long reply. Back to work.
