Hi guys, Any idea where to try out or test ride Triumph 675R or RRR? Just want to have a feel of it to see if the bike will suit me. Thanks for your advice!

I guess Mah is the only place you can try and ask for a test ride since they are the sole distributor.

I'll tell you something now.

I am from England.

When I was a young man ( I know you,ve heard it before ), a long time ago. When you were looking at purchasing a bike it was normal for the propesctive buyer to " have a go " on the bike first. This was in England more than 20 years ago.

I know I'm an old git.

So, this is how it went when someone took my Gixer 1100 away from me. Remember this is England and not Singapore.

Advertised in the Motor Trader as I needed the funds to travel away from the god awuful place some from England would call home, I call it good ridance.

So I set a place close to my place to meet, the buyer then called again to say he didn't know the area and requested another location.

I was desperate to sell the bike as I needed the funds for a trip around India, so I sugestted another place for the guy to see the bike.

It was on the M18 in northern England.

It went like this:-

Arrive at the location ( without insurance as it had expired ) and waited for the buyer.

Buyer turned up in a van and gave me about 15 minutes of blurt about how his bike had blown up and he was going on holiday the next day.

He wanted a go on the bike, I said no and told him I had no insurance. He still wanted a go on it, I refused and asked for something from him to be sure that he would returned with my bike. So he gave me the keys to his van.

I was desperate to sell the bike so I agreed, off he went on my 1100 up the road..........a sight I'll never forget.

I listened to the sound of 'my' Harris 4 into 1 disappear into the distance, then nothing. I got nervous so decided to get in the van and go and look what had happened.

As I opened the door of the van I was confronted by a mass of wires hanging out of the dash of the van, I knew what had happened at this point.

It didn't take long to get the van going and set off in the direction in which the crook had set off in, but all my efforts were in vain. I even sparked enthuisasm in the local boy racer crowd, who did a sterlig job of ripping around the estates looking for a GSXR1100.

So I made my way to the police station and the van ran out of fuel, I learnt later that it was stolen.

Devastation, at the time of value of the gixer at the time, about 2.5K pounds , or 5K Sing..in 1992.

What are the lessons to be learned here.

NEVER, EVER, EVER, let somone on your bike to " have a go mister ", even if you are desperate to sell it. Even if you have insurance you cover will be void.

So , when someone asks me if they can have a go on my bike ....I say.

KISS MY ASS

It will never happen again.

Just to add to my post.

I have had bikes and cars stolen from me in England, think its a safe place? When you are already at the mercy of the tax, you get shafted by crooks who get satellite tv , sim cards free and councellors to giude them at the expense of the tax payer in prison for doing wrong.

Suddenly, a caning makes perfect sense for robbery. England is too bloody correct and full of sh*te so these toe rags get support. I like the Singapore way.

I am British, but I think my country stinks and I am making no plan to go back there. Sorry Brucey.

I like Singapore very much , been here for almost 10 years on employment passes, but when the work stops then I'll go home.

My home is now........Thailand.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Ride on............................crazytown.

I,m so happy that this don't happen in Singapore.................England, for all its glory and hype, is not a great a place to be.

You,ll not recognise that you have a good place until its gone.

On the other hand, there has been some truely great music.....please listen

Anyway test rides shld be a strict no no for sellers since insurance does not cover the buyer.

If he rides and come back one pc u are fine and so is he, but if he crash, ubmay not get anything since it's not sold or the rule of u break it you buy it..

If he gets killed or loose a leg, he probably can sue you for negligence since u knowingly let him ride wo ins..

And there are cases where bikes and cars are driven away even if u copy some stupid ic.. I seen and heard stories..

would you trust your friend with your wife? not a very simple question to answer is it...

in my opinion, its better not to jeopardize a friendship because of disputes that might arise from any problems that your sub-rider might encounter on something as technical as a bike, especially one like ours. disputes such as "how come my bike now sounds so rough" or "eh, the brake pad worn out" or "what! accident?? are you gonna pay for my bike? who's fault was it?" or "how come got leak ah" just serves to complicate matters. one could say that with a bike shop you would face the same problems though.

So now, has anyone heard of a workshop or even Mah providing this storage service for people going overseas for awhile? A professional place of business that you know are run by honest people who won't chop our bikes up for parts. Thanks for your suggestions!

yes, i would, cause I trust both my wife & my friend. :)

would be better than sending it to the whorehouse(workshop). :)
