Impex, I was just reading your link on the chain lube. We also bought a few bottles of the wax and the lube during the last EO outing. See pix, we bought many many boxes. I still have 1 unused wax and lube.

How I use either one is, I always spray the lower chain on the insides. After spraying, ride around slowly in the car park and allow the wax/lube to set.

The wax does fling, but not as much as the lube. However, it makes the chain look dry. But lube is like a "wet look" gel. However, it flings like mad. The no fling formula doesn't seem to work for me?

But whack it hard, even the wax flings much.

I thought maybe, I always use it after a wash, the water trapped in the chain may have carried off some lube, causing it to fling. But once, Beagle visited me while I was washing my bike. His chain was dry as ice and hasn't been lubed ever since he bought his bike. He used the lube. I'm sure he spent more than 5 mins talking c o c k with me. But after he rode home, it looked like he had wiped his crapped-out-ass all over his own wheels.

What gives?

To be honest, I ride like a sissy everytime after I lube my chain, never a Power Ranger.

Now here's the deal, if you want 100% fling free, it follows that the lube will lack fluidity and hence smoothness, build up with repeat applications and eventually gunk, right? If you want good fluidity and hence smoothness, it follows that the lube will migrate and be flung off, yes? These are conflicting properties.

Maxima's ChainWax is as close to fling free while still providing excellent lubricity as you will ever get, feel free to try other products and make your own comparison. Yes, it does look dry when cold, but the unique part is that ChainWax slowly redistributes itself in a semi fluid fashion once your chain reach operating temperature. Look at your chain when u just finish a ride after applying the Chainwax, it does not look dry. Jack up the rear and spin it when the chain is hot, it will be as smooth as an oiled chain.

With this heat softening and semi fluid property Maxima Chainwax eventually migrates to the outer edges of the chain from the centrifugal forces. If over applied or allowed to gather, it eventually builds up enough mass to fling off little by little, tiny specs on the undertail. All it requires from the user is that u wipe off accumulated lube on the outer edge every alternate time u lube the chain. Product like GT85 sprayed on a rag makes this a 1 min job with the wheel jacked up. That is all the maintenance you have to do to make this product zero fling, no full degreasing/degunking scrubbing with a toothbrush necessary ever.

I do admit that the Chain Guard flings relatively more and I have always advised users to use the ChainWax if they ride a large CC bike. The ChainGuard's property is that it is more fluid and thins out more with temperature. Apparently, the bulk of the heat on the chain comes not from friction, but from conduction of the engine heat from the front sprocket. Some big CC bikes have no issues with ChainGuard and I have noted that their chain runs relatively cooler. Smaller 2B bikes also tend to favour ChainGuard as their bikes do not heat up the chain enough to make ChainWax soft and smooth. Then there are some people who refuse to use Chainwax, believeing that a lube needs to look wet and fling abit in order to lubricate well, hence the emergence of ChainGuard. ChainGuard sales continue to be strong despite my own strong personal preference for Maxima ChainWax, it goes to show that different people different preference.

Chilly, just to clarify, Maxum4 Ultra 5W50 is the one Tashi likes. Maxum4 Extra 15W50 is that one that you guys don't like in the blade. Both Maxima products.

Yes,i know both eo are maxima brand. What i'm trying to say is, don't try the extra instead try the ultra. As Tashi said the ultra is way better than the extra. As Tashi is still trying it until the next oil change.Sorry for the confusion ANR :sorry:

Am currently using the 5W50 and I am impressed with it.

Prior to changing to this oil, during the last PG Track Day, I had difficulty downshifting for the corners and nearly ended overshooting twice in the race.

But with this 5W50, downshifting has always been smooth and positive even though I am riding at between 8000 to 11500 RPM.

Really good stuff.

PS - Same oil is in my DRZ too. That bike is ridden with throttle wide open 90% of the time on the track. :thumb:

Normal riding & warming up,no white smoke.

Maybe yes & may be no,i'm not so sure.I seldom 'whack' only once in awhile.Even every sat when i go for normal ritual of topping up petrol alone, below 220 kph only coz of short distance. But for sure when i didn't use fp60,there's black soot when i remove the baffle once a week to oil it.Using fp60 no black soot even after nearly 1 mth.Finished my fp60 when we went for the Melaka trip.

Hi guys, this question has plagued my mind for the past few days....

To cut or not to cut....

I found some pics of bladers putting on cut version of the sliders of the 06 Blade. There are 2 places we can put them.

1) The sliders are placed lower and it drills into 2 pieces of fairing. What I realize is that the lower fairing, after drilling, is left with somewhat a little bit to connect to the upper fairing, looks flimsy.

http://www.dedicatedrecovery.com/kevin_temp/1000rr_right2.jpg

2) The sliders are place higher up but it only drills into 1 piece- the upper fairing

http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/gallery/1143736119/gallery_2494_224_53656.jpg

Anyone has any comments on these? Hopefully you guys can help with some suggestions and advice. Btw, my choice is definitely cut sliders, i dun want no cut ones.

I would consider the cutting off the foreskin a form of body mutilation. Something I wouldn’t do. But that’s just my opinion.

Foreskin aside, my piece of advise is, don’t do anything to your bike now till you’ve stress tested it for a couple of months. These are mods that will void your warranty. Any defects, cosmetic problem … that surface will not be claimable.

Well, the above statement is not entirely true, cause once in awhile, something unprecedented happens.

Imagine your Blade pulling a “Suzuki” on you ... the frame cracks. BS tells you, sorry, it’s the drilling that you did.

Sat GP Esso as usual at 8pm.
