Hi couple.....

Y didnt u opted to get the new 2007 Blade..?

then everyone of use here wld be very interested to meetup n go out wif u for our weekly gatherings n meetups... to see how ur new 07 Blade performs n ur feedback on it..

Hi there..

Well we didnt opt for the 07 model because we made a booking for our blade at last November's Motorshow at Suntec..They were offering free COE only for the 2006 model..Besides at that time the 2007 model wasnt really released yet..The guy from Mah Pte said it might take months for it to come..He also said we shoudnt wait coz if it came next year, then the price will increase because of the GST increasing..

By the way now that we're riding the 2006 model, you still wouldnt be interested to meetup wif us and let us tag along for your weekly gathering and meetups ah? :cheeky:

For the stock tires, the rear slipped a few times when the multistorey carpark is wet from rain. I've also got rear tire slip a few times after heavy downpour, it happened when I tried to throttle too much too fast when the road was wet and the rear slipped a bit.

As for sliders, I fixed the cut version. This cut version is actually not suited for the 06 blade, cos when I fixed it, I had to get the left slider file out a slot for the fairing screw to come out.

That aside, the sliders saved my blade more than once. I had an accident at the Rochor exit previously, the sliders took much of the damage, very little damage to the fairings. I also dropped my blade once, sliders took the damage as well, nothing happened to my fairings.

Thanks so much for the info bro..Would reckee around next week for the sliders..

Well, for the tyres wic is the BT015... they have very excellent reviews and feedbacks here from those who had used them.

Though if ur still keen to chg ur tyres, i would volunteer myself to buy them from u...

Well, for sliders... it depends individually, but if ur afraid of minor falls and minor accidents, n not confident or its ur first time riding a class 2 bike, it would greatly help in protecting your fairings during falls n accidents and to some extend your legs too... there are brands of sliders available that dont require u to drill thru the fairings..

Hi there..Thanks for the info..Ok if we decided to change the tyres,i would personally pm you alright..

Btw..This is a pic of our 2006 blade..

I think alot of the guys on the bike overlook one very important item. Get them carbon fibre crankcase protectors!

What is the point of putting sliders when your crankcase ie the gearbox housing and the magnetic coil covers are the first one to bear the brunt should you lowside the bike?

If the fairings are damaged... you still can ride an ugly looking bike. If the engine lower covers get ground off till oil comes out... its the end of the road.

Seen too many of that kind of thing happening to people on the track. And by the way.. track is always very clean... they clean up the oil spills if they occur.

LTA does not go around putting cement dust on the patches of oil that the trucks and buses leave behind.

My 2 cents worth.

For the carbon fibre crankcase protectors, I got Shah of Biketech21 to order them for me.

There are 2 types... one is thin and flimsy and lighter coloured which to me it ain't worth a crap in a lowside and the other one which is much thicker and darker patterned. That is the one you want to get.

As for the sliders... Motoworld has them coz I have seen them there.

DO NOT USE a normal length Motovation sliders..If you can find an extended version of Motovation sliders than you buy. If not don't bother..Its a waste of money when the sliders are too short to protect anything.

The mounting point for sliders on CBR1K is quite high..juz use a bit of imagination, if a 2.5' slider is mounted on the frame and you place the bike lying on the floor..the engine cover, lower cowling, signal lights at least will be in contact to the floor. If you can find an extended 4' sliders from Motovation which is near extinction..your bike stand a better chance in case of a crash.

If can't find Motovation..go to e-bay and look for an extended sliders for CBR1K.

Seriously..I have crashed at least 3 times on my blade using Motovation sliders and each time the fairings, engine cover and signal lights were gone case..So you think if the sliders are doing any good?? I"M NOT SAYING MOTOVATION IS NOT GOOD..BUT JUZ THAT THE LENGTH IS TOO SHORT TO PROTECT ENOUGH.

If you want to go for looks and use those short sliders..go on and I'm sure you'll regret one day..

Better be ugly and safe than sorry..Juz ma 2cents!! :thumb:

Yes ive thought about that too..No point putting on those sliders if its too short to protect anything should i drop my bike..I would check the size of the sliders first before confirming..

Im thinking about getting the Motovation's 'No Cut' Frame Sliders specifically for the 2006/2007 model..Ive enquired from this guy i found from ebay..Here's the price list he quoted me..

'No Cut' Frame Sliders : $180

Fork Sliders : $50

Rear Axle Sliders : $55

Swingarm Sliders : $40

Balancers : $45

The guy's staying in AMK..He will also do the installation for you but for a fee of $20..

Where else can i find those extended sliders that you've mentioned..Ive browsed thru e-bay and they only have up to the 2005 model..

Why don't you guys just take a ride down to Biketech21 at 45 Dunlop Street and check it out. They are opened till 9 or 10 pm at night. I cannot for the life of me remember exactly how much I paid for the case covers... am tempted to say it was like almost $300 for both sides.

I can understand the hype about wanting to get frame sliders to protect the fairings.. which is what they can ONLY do and only to a certain extent, in the unfortunate event of a lowside or accidental stationary drop of the bike.

Putting on frame sliders has its pros and cons. Something WILL have to give in any hard impact situation, especially when metal is conerned.

Either the bolt that holds the slider to the frame OR the bike frame OR worst still the very threaded hole that the bolt of the frame slider is threaded to.

Just to give you a real life example.. someone I know from SBF once had those metallic small slider looking thingies mounted onto the swingarm of his CBR600RR.. which the rear wheel stand slides under to pick up the bike. He had a crash on the track and a chunk... yes a chunk of the lower part of the swingarm where the mounting hole is located, was ripped off. He had to buy a new swing arm, it will be crazy to repair that kind of damage especially when the structural intergrity of this critical load member is comprimised.

I know you guys are going to cuzz me and say that I am a bloody wet blanket and a bad news brown and am not contributing any good solutions to the problems you guys are trying to address at hand.

You know if you asked me what I really think.. you might not like my answers but the choice is yours.

Get an aftermarket race fairing. Do you know that one set of RH side fairings (upper and lower cowlings plus signal lights, tail piece) in Repsol paintwork comes up to $2,800? I know coz I claimed before. I dare not asked about the headlight cowling plus the headlight units.

A full bodied unpainted race fairing costs less than that. I have a Sebimoto race fairing in endurance racer style which comes with the provisions to put a headlight with low/high beam functions.

I did not put on a race fairing coz of style or was trying to shave off excess weight off my bike coz I needed every little bit of horsepower that I could squeeze out of the bike... sorry am no Nicky Hayden. Am nut even using 60% of the bikes capability on the track as it is.

So go do the maths on the costs of a race fairing and calculate the odds that not one part of any cowling fairings will need replacement in the event of a lowside should a frame slider be fitted.

Sorry guys if I threw a spanner into the machinery of thoughts but am speaking out of experience.

Carbon fibre protectors are really good to have, haha i'm waiting for my fren to sell me his as he's selling his bike soon.

I think alot of ppl have the wrong conception about frame slider, y in the 1st place it's call a slider? y is it call frame slider and not fairing slider? wondering y some slider is so short to protect anything?

frame slider = to able the frame to slide around

The true idea of having a frame slider it is only to protect the frame along with engine beneath it, which is the 2 most important and expensive component. If the integrity of the chasis is compromise, the bike is as good as gone. when the frame silder is too high, in the event of a high speed lowside, the chances (god's will) are that yr handle bar will get caught causing the whole bike to flip (dunno how many rounds in the sky) because of a higher CG. That will do so much more damage to the bike. A good frame sliders is made to wear out while the bike slide around while protecting yr frame. As for the small metallic thing at the end of swingarm, it's a rear wheel stand holder so it must not be compared to a Swingarm Sliders as it's a totally different thing.

Do consider when installing the frame slider, wheather you're more for speed or more for yr fairing. Even a non cut frame silder and normal frame slider makes a very big different during a high speed lowside because of the different positioning.

So inorder to protect other parts that's where other sliders and cf protecter comes in. As for the highside crash, haha i dun think even god can save anyone of us.

Sorry, hope i have not offended anyone. Jus my 2 cents worth..... cheers....
