Damn... all the 08/09 bikes are really really that damned butt ugly aren't they...

I would've loved to keep my 06 until someone knocked it down while reversing, I'm forced to upgrade.

Actually the 08 does grow on me. Even to those who didn't like it initially.

I'm thinking the 08/09 Blade will be those last of the raw bikes before electronics become more pervasive in 2010. Then there will be the old school vs the new school.

How bout 09 ZX10???

Seems alot nicer compared to the previous version but the front signals... :slapforehead:

The front reminds me of a cockroach head.

Why not wait a few months more for the 09 Yamaha?

Between the 08 Blade and the 09 R1... they're both definitely UGLIER than their predecessors.

So you can size both of them up based on technology.... :D

09 R1 certainly is a interesting bike to look forward to. Unqiue engine that is. Like a built in traction control machine. However will it lose the hard acceleration factor of a raw engine? And it getting more electronic now which I don't really like. Same goes to ZX10R

The only thing that steer me towards getting a CBR is obviously the cost. Cheaper among the 1L bike plus one of the best performance now. And simply the simplest among the lot. No fancyful gadget like power mode selection, adjustable v stack, restriction at high rpm and it comes with the best steering damper available. And of course, I bought the race fairing liao.. No choice. :cheeky:

Yup. Eh, how you know?

You forgot Julien working same company as me??

Is it really cheaper..? Since Tashi said it cost around 23k for an agent bike.. Thats about the same price as the other rival brand right..?

any1 noes wat the capacity of the eo like for the 05 blade

with n without oil filter

thks

3.1L when changing oil filter, 3L without. You don't really have to top up the extra 100 ml if you don't want to when changing with oil filter.

The other 3 Jap brand are priced above 24k range. So which makes the Honda the cheapest of the lot and with the better performance.

Anyone knows where to get the extended lower cowl to cover up the space after fitting an aftermarket exhaust?

Maybe you can check yoshimura website.. I saw recently that they fabricate the extension.. Probably motoworld can bring in the product..

Hi guys, sorry for the MIA... TOO BUSY with tons of stuff... juz moved house, genting trip and lots of stuff etc...

see title.

anybody monitor their oil use for far?

as reported by sportrider.com as well as the nov issue of bike, there appears to b excessive oil use. in some cases as reported by forumers in 1000rr.net n fireblades.org, it can b something like 1 litre every 3000km!

at the same time, there r owners who report no such problems, or only little oil use.

read from somewhere (will post link when i find it back), a possibility is through the intake valves. smoke was observed during a dyno run on deceleration, dat is, closing the throttle after some rpm. it was ascertained from exhaust readouts dat it is due to engine oil, not excessive fuel. some excessive deposits were also found on the back of the said valves.

on decel, downstroke pistons create a powerful vacuum (remember dat throttle butterflies r closed at dis pt) n oil is drawn from the intake valves' oil passages.

as an aside, other than a previous ride (phantom 200), none of my bikes consumed oil, even after 6000km. at least, it wasn't noticeable. i didn't measure, but checked the levels through the oil sight glass (the 08 blade doesn't hv dis, just a dip stick).

any thoughts?

as for this, before i buy the bike already read it from 1000RR.net apparantley for my bike there is still no such noticeable problem yet...

anyway in the facts is that engine oil will go to ur 16 valve, there is no full seal between ur valve to ur piston block, so to be exact engine oil does goes to ur piston block and burn with the fuel... but its only in a very very very small unnoticable amount. maybe in the likes of 0.1ml per 1000km.

well as i have contacted the 1000rr.net members, they told me they are using 0W-30 Engine oil where as compared to mine which is 15W-50. so might be due to the lower viscosity type of fluid and able to slip in. (juz a guess. please dun debate with me)

Dear bladers,

While i'm ridding my 08 to my workplace, i was hit by a forklift.

Lucky never buang or the forklift blade hit my leg.

Sorry to heard that bro...

Yes guys, here is the review i ownself giving in pasir gudang and some recent NSH Top Speed Rating...

Pasir Gudang:

1st thing 1st, the review i giving based on the tire i using for my 1st session is Battlax BT 015, and then 2nd & 3rd Session using Battlax BT 016. this 3 session does give me a good conclusion on the 08 CBR1000RR and how should i play around with it...

1. The fork setting is a MUST to reset... u might be surprise how BAD the stock setting is... its not even consider semi sport, i will called it a FORK for ROAD purpose... currently my setting is Full tight 4 turn toward Soft on the Preload adjuster. I personally think that fork spring must be replace with the after market for the serious trackers... Damping and Redamp force has also been re-setted... Damping @ Full Tight, 3turn towards soft and Redamp force @ Full Tight, 4 Turn towards Soft.

2. As i am using the street tyre althought with multiple compound on track, amazingly is that the feedback from the bike was quite good. you can feel the bump when it is switching from hard compound to soft compound... the bump, the jerk. direct feedback to ur ass...

3. Slipper Clutch was really a big help. Previously on my 04 where without slipper cluth, during turn 1. the whole straight where i blasted to 210km/hr and stop to 80km/hr was like a rollar coaster ride. the bike will hop and hop and hop. but on this bike, it does not.

4. Midrange of the bike, whenever you exit turn 1, turn 4 & the last turn with Gear 1/2. and pump hard enough the momment u exit, u WILL most probably end up doing a pop/wheelie... (Nearly got ban from track that day due to 3 POP plus 1 wheelie)

Overall compared to my 04 CBR1000RR, timing has not much changes. but i believe this 08 can go further, this is because my 04 i push until very tired i can only get 2 laps of my best time, the 08's without too much of pushing, and i was able to get around the same result...

NSH TOP SPEED TESTING:

Recently went to malaysia having supper and playing some top speed game... Tested with my friend K3 destination thru and flow Kulai. Also i was using GPS as the true top speed comparisim to 1 of my friend K6. here is the Result:

NSH with K3:

The most decisive section where we determin this bike would be during the return of kulai, before Geylang patah was a right band with many strips... down there where my friend K3 was infront & i was behind, so strips he maintain around 180km/hr where i maintain slightly faster around 200km/hr. the momment we exit the strips, i would like to call the 08 CBR1000RR a roll-on King! it superb mid range drag a great distance between us... i was easily hit to my 280km/hr but however was climbing once it reaches. the K3 were far behind my mirror but still can see some light. and was slowly closing in... so needless to say. 08 CBR can pull fast but however lose during top speed...

GPS TOP SPEED:

08 CBR10000RR: 272km/hr

Suzuki K6 1000: 275km/hr

i have yet to test with my friend K6. K6 has better pick up compared to K3. so result might varies... until i have the chance... will review again... :thumb:

Wow, never heard of this before, where can we do it?

Found this, probably have to cut it.

http://www.sharkskinz.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=138&cat=2008%2D2009

Erm, it like going to Seng Kwang to custom make stainless steel item. However if you can provide the cad drawing, with dimension. It is possible to bring it to a laser cut company to cut the shape you want but most likely you will need to bend it to what you need. And of course make the bracket to install it onto your bike. I will most properly design and fabricate myself provided I'm going for an aftermarket.
