Hi bros, my com now is win xp service pack 1... need to update it to service pack 2 to use MSN live...

 

But the problem is when i do a auto update, it will load 1/2 way then not load anymore... when i restart the com it will load till the windows xp then restart and load restart again... :dozed:

 

i need some help here... Any 1 know whats the problem?

Uh oh, sounds like corrupt system files...Time to reinstall back just the WinXP essential files.

thx for the reply... no, i dont have a xp disc. i bought my com 3-4 years back for a whole pakage. They did not give me a window disc... Theres only like... system reboot???

wingz, I'm very afraid that you have suffered a problem that may take complicated troubleshooting steps just to fix this problem.

 

Try these first:

 

Boot into "Safe Mode with Networking". Repeatedly press F8 right after the BIOS screen disappears.

If in the stroke of luck Windows does load this way, then you can retry installing XP SP2 from there.

 

If that doesn't work, try downloading the huge SP2 installation from the Microsoft website (instead of going thru Windows Update), and begin the installation using that one, in the "Safe Mode" environment.

 

Otherwise, if all above fails, then you'll have to take it in for expert diagnosis/troubleshooting.

 

But if you don't mind being adventurous, there are reputable self-help websites that are dedicated to Windows XP2, like this one:
