Normal earphones on Motorola RAZR V3 ?

Hi all, I own a RAZR V3i -- the phone equipped with iTunes (mp3 player) and a mini USB port, to which you can charge the phone with it, or to plug in its stock earphones to listen to music.

 

It comes equipped with 2-side earphones cum mouthpiece. The quality on this Motorola equipped mini-USB earphones is questionable; the earphones keep on slipping out from my ears.

 

Recently, I did see people selling these in Pasar Malam's and Sim Lim. It's the USB to 3.5mm (aka ordinary music earphone) adaptor:

The problem with this simple cable is that when I use it, at maximum phone volume, the sound coming out from my Sony music earphones are too soft.

 

Has anyone here tried using 3rd party earpieces with Motorola's range of phones and that it successfully works?
