Your fuse got burn? I believe yours should be a newer series that comes with a short circuit protections. Bro u can simply replace the fuses and get the amp back in action.

The fuse comes in 2 types, a Normal Blow and a Slow Blow.

(U can check out spare fuses @ Sim Lim Tower, think abt $1.2 each )

If the fuse blow again, immediately after power up, probaly the transformer is

fried liao. Would be cheaper to get a new amp.

I known of some people who can do servicing for ya. Very experience guys who can service and modifiy most sets in today market as long the replacment parts still available!

It depend on the year of manufacture, if the model is too old, it will be more cost efficent to get a new set. As to speak, newer model comes with lots of new DSP, Digital Signal Processor like PRO-LOGIC II and ULTRA THX decoder, etc.

The transistors which amplifies the signals, have a life span of xxxxx hours, so does the micro-controller and the coils of the transformer. In general, a model which is more than 5yrs of usuage, will not be recommanded for repair. Coz after u fix something. something else fail.

Bro, in any case there is some people who keep the sets for 20 years and it is still kicking!! Let mi know if wish to repair the set or replace the set, i do have some contact in this field!

alrighty, you are right its a cd player, brand denon, got it in 2000. the problem is sometime music skip a little in the first few track once or thrice depending on the cd, not all cd. tried re-play again and most of the time back to normal again. problem is rendom, not always happen. have look into the player and it have few knots to tune just below the laser unit. things like tracking gain, tracking offset, focus gain etc...

Ok, Denon make one of those good CD player in the market. Usually the player consist of a "Transport" the disc drive(a mechcanical component), it is a package with the lazer pick up. Another section (electronic) that is vital to its operation is the sampler, also known as the decoder which process the data from the disc. A decoder's function is to break down Digital data and convert into an Analog output to the amplifiers. Before the analog stage, there is actually a micro-controller which handles the error, as to speak it is an error correction devices.

With some understanding in the construction, i will like to suggest a few point u might want to try out.

Some Cd maufacter, not to say which album or record company, had not done a very gd job in their quality control. If there is no problem with other Cds then the problem is quite clear cut.

Or, if your player is placed near a speaker or sub-woofer, the unwanted vibration from these unit can upset the smooth transition of the data pickup.

Another possiblities is that the player is placed near (top or below) of the power amplifiers which emit lots of heat, thus causing the chips within to operate out of its designated temp range.

Do try out this few tips, good luck :thumb:
