I've changed my rear brake shoes to the same brand MJ got. The UM mech had to slightly file them (about 2 mm) to make them fit in the drum. They are a tiny bit wider then the stock shoe pads.

The tech did some of the run-in for me, so when I got the bike, the breaking was already pretty efficient. Did some running in again, and now the pads are fully operational.

I have not been using them for so long, only a ride of about 40min, both on expressway and in town. But the overall feel is really good.

The bite of the brake pad is a bit different than the stock ones. It's a bit more "compact", the stock ones I feel bite the wheel more progressively and you can feel them getting more efficient. My feel for this new Japanese shoe pads is that the bite is not as progressive, but it's really efficient.it's not hard as in too hard, but it's as effective as the stock ones. It's too soon to tell if they are better, my first impression is that they are. My stock pads still had a lot of life in them, after 6.5k mileage so in a few days I'll have a good feeling of which ones are more efficient.

Also remember that it depends on your riding/braking style: I'm a HEAVY user of rear brakes. it's not recommended, but it's a bad habit I caught since my first Class 2B lesson.. So 90% of my braking is done by the rear brakes. I only get the front brakes in the game when e-brake or I feel I need more braking power. So I "tap" my rear brakes a lot, I also use them a lot not to achieve full stop but regulate my speed if engine braking isn't an option. I also use them a lot for slow stopping, traffic situation when I need to regulate my speed while lane splitting or navigating through different flows of traffic.

More feedback next week , when I've used them to commute.

Sorry, forgot ! It's http://www.mrhit.com but I just checked, they don't have the BlueAnt F4 in their products for sale list anymore , but they still have the page for its review though.. So maybe they switched from BlueAnt to SENA ?

There are quite a lot of bluetooth headsets on the market. The most famous are Scala I think because bikers have been using them for many many years, but there are new contenders every year or so so worth checking out.

Read reviews on http://www.webbikeworld.com to help you get the idea, and also http://www.advrider.com to get feedback and reviews from bikers.

I think what's important is to decide what's the priority for you : if all you need is a bike-to-bike com channel, or rider to pillion, then maybe a lower range quality will be enough.

If you need to listen to music and you're looking for good audio rendition similar to having your headphones on, then you need to go for the higher end type of equipment.

Now most of the popular brands have AG2P functionality (which you need to use with your iPhone), most of them support mutli channel (i.e music + incoming call + GPS , each one fading the others). So the difference is often in the other functionality they provide.

Look for :

- ease of use with gloves

- Waterproof or at least weather proof

- Ease of navigation or manipulation

- Long term resistance (this stuff is costly you want to keep it at least 2-3 years)

- Ability to control tracks when playing music (fwd - bkwrd navigation of your playlist), ability to mute the sound with one touch, reaction to voice control, alerts sounds (low battery, incoming call etc etc),

- Price of spare parts (if you want to add a set, change the microphone etc..)

- battery life, and means to charge it (how long it takes but also how easy is it, do you need an additional charger or one of your existing ones can do ?)

I did a lot of research on the topic before choosing the BlueAnt F4 model so I'm happy to discuss it with you more if you want, or if you have questions just let me know. I tried two of the Scala models and a cheapo basic no-name kind of model so I can give you feedback on those, although I borrowed them so I only used them for a couple of days, but it was enough to help me decide.

I got my insurance renewed today with MSIG. I went to an agent called Chartered Agency that is located in the same building as Lim Ah Boy, on the 2nd floor. Pricing is same as WTT, but WTT is located in Golden mile towers slightly away and unfamiliar for me.

But they dont do road tax renewal. They told me need to wait for 3 days for the insurance to get updated in the LTA system and then I can renew online.:dozed:

Yeah, it is possible to do the road tax renewal on the same day at the idac centers or at LTA office, if you take the insurance certificate with you.

But to renew online, LTA's system should get the information from MSIG about my insurance coverage then It will allow me to do online. Places like NTUC and some insurance agents allow you to renew road tax at the same time as insurance is done, but unfortunately this chartered insurance doesnt allow. But then there are very few agencies that do motorcycle insurance and most of them are located close to the city and this chartered insurance was the closest to me.

But anyways my road tax renewal date is 11th April so still got time :)

Next time i bring u go jurong ice skate, there u can do power slide until u shiok hehehehehe

haha. that one can do donut already!

I am using Dunlop TT900 made in thailand and is pretty good and grippy. But then I never lean even a bit while taking a turn so can't say what will happen if I lean. It cost me $50 for front and $75 for rear with installation. In JB it will be even cheaper.

hmm. very tempting.. guess i'll take a look into dunlop too.

You've been riding with something stuck in your rear wheel ? wow... Thank god nothing happened !

For the tires prices, battlax is going up everywhere in SG. I bought mine 1y ago with the bike, sliiightly cheaper. I love these tires, zero problem in one yar and the grip is great even when it rains.

Now a lot of other brands are competitive, Dunlop and Michelin a pretty popular, and you read the latest on that cheap Shinko tyre Brandon is using. To be honest, I don;t think any tyre that is used by other riders is going to compromise your safety. If a tyre isn't good enough people will talk about and the word will spread, like for the Pulsar stock tyres. So I can think you can pick whichever without worrying about that. After that, the choice highly depends on your budget and your riding style and what you think you really need. (For example, me I prefer tyres with a good grip especially on wet roads, and I don;t mind if it slows me down or isn't as easy to "corner")

indeed i'm very fortunate! *thank god*

Thank you all for the prompt reply! probably heading down to lab tmr to check the tires out. maybe renewing road tax and insurance too. soo many things to do, but so little time!

Likely to be the Shinko 005 advance.

Any stock for 80/70 front and 110/80 rear?

I think should have, but beside LAB I duno where got Shinko tyres :(

I had changed at a bike shop in the tampines industrial area, behind the Tampines Safra. The thread pattern on the TT900 looks very nice just like the Bridgestone battlax.

Awesome i bet the quality wun run as much as bridgestone?

Shinko tyres are quite common for Phantom(the huge rear tyre). It should be available in most shops.

My TT900 Rear tyre about 50 percent left after 1 yr and 10k kms, I guess will last another 10k kms. Front tyre still looks quite new
