Hmm the quality is good but the camera sticks out too much for my taste. They need to make a camera that nicely fits the contour of the helmet.

Btw I ride past that same stretch in Rochor rd every day when going home from work. It is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to ride through at evening rush hour. NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!

As promised, I started working on the videos captured by my GOPRO HD HERO camera.

This is the first video I put together, here's the background info:

Shot with GOPRO HD HERO Motorsprots camera mounted on the top of my helmet with a 3M sticker curved mount.

The camera was inclined slightly to try to capture as much of the front bike view without including the bike, as well as the surroundings.

The camera is in R5 mode: Full HD, Highest resolution, 19:9, 1080p (1920x1080), 30 fps. This is also a mode that's 27% less wide than the widest mode. I;ll post video of all modes as I go through them.

The video was shot at the end of the afternoon, so the sun is still out there, shining at the camera's lens, you'll see purple dots - that's sun flare. I think it's pretty cool :D

The video was shot along Bukit Timah Rd, going from Bugis junction to Upper Bukit Timah.

I only picked about 2 min of footage to give you an idea of the quality and the width of the shot.

Very important: if you watch the video embedded below, you will only get a 360p resolution.

To see the video at its FULLEST resolution of 1080p, you have to open it in Youtube and then select the 1080p HD resolution from the video menu (bottom right side).

To open the video in youtube, click on the YOUTUBE logo on the bottom right corner of the video.

I'm nt sure if I have EO in my bike.. I tried taking out the dipstick but can't really determine whether there's any oil on it.. :(

Use a paper napkin or tissue to wipe it -> it will directly tell you if there's any "fresh" greasy marks whether you got oil there or not.

Agreed. The trick is to position yourself on the extreme right lane, and go back to the middle lane before hitting the lanes that turn into Serangoon Road

The whole damn bukit timah from Rochor road to freaking Dairy Farm road is a nightmare at peak hour. In no particular order:

- construction work every 5m

- construction works that shifts during the day and during the night so every day you got yourself new lanes configuration

- huge trucks coming out of nowhere, taking 1.5 lane

- "temporary" bus stops anyhow all along the way, as and where latest construction work configuration allows

- small pick up truck driving like they are kup kias, cutting through lane and squeezing where they can

- kup kias invaders at every traffic light and at every lane split - between these two stages, they sort of disappear from the road to reappear at the next traffic light

- junctions with the worst traffic light system ever, meant to handle 5 different traffic directions

- Yellow boxes everywhere, sometimes facing absolutely no exit or entrance, the yellow box is just there, deal with it and with the cab driver who thinks he has priority over the world because his front wheel is on it

- Huge SUVs who think they really are in the Tundra just because the name of their vehicle says so. Their driver is driving like he's in the middle of the freaking desert, no bothered by this thing called lane

- Complete and utter chaos mentality at every turn, every filter lane, every unexpected road block: I go first, and I put my car or truck right there and I force you to let me pass and if you don't I inch in until you give up and let me pass, even if 25 cars are blocked behind me because of this

- A beautiful scenery made of green metallic walls, white and red pilons, supposed-to-be-visible orange board signs, and if it rains and we're lucky, a little blinking amber light here and there. You want trees along the way ? You got cranes, enjoy.

A few of us have one of those. Nice and easy to handle, easy to carry around. Of course quality is not exceptional, but for daily rides it is enough. Battery life isn't that good tho, but it is not bad at all in terms of direct compression and storage space on the memory card.

Easy to fix by the mirror, or on the handle bar and doesn't vibrate as much because of it's small size.

I skip most of the Bukit Timah rd madness by heading onto PIE via Whitley rd. It's so much smoother.

When it rains I avoid the expressway - some might think I'm not a real rider for doing that and that a rider should be able to ride rain or shine. I say to them, the visibility is crap under this tropical rains, and I like my life too much.

And since I moved to the West, it almost always rains when I go to work..

Anyway, even when it's not raining, it's a pain to get on the PIE via Whitley road too , and my exit at Bukit Batok is also a fierce battle..

I'll try to compare both routes to see if there's a significant difference in tim and smoothness - I suspect at peak hours the PIE will be mega jammed too, no ?

Agree with u, BKE to PIE (going to sch is also a challenge during the morning rush), PIE to BKE (going back wdl is worst during 4+pm onwards) all the JB kup kia are like racing for time to go home and fcuk their gf or wife. Speed like nobody business crazy 1. And oso alot of big vehicles, always go slow and leave 2 bike length at least in case some kup kia fall / crash :):) just my 2 cents

I dont consider both PIE and CTE as expressways. Both are always jammed and there is not enough gap between the cars to lane split also. On top of that the ERP

TPE and SLE are real expressways and biker's paradise. Even during the rare occassion of a jam due to vehicle breakdown/accident there is always enough gap for m/cycles to travel at reasonable speeds in between the cars. Best part no ERP :cheer:
