if bangladeshi workers, they can assist to get what they wants, ....

hmm think for you with your safety gears on .. ok lah hehehehehehee

like alvin stated .. just bring the samples along and tell them what type you want ...

and my suggest too .. since you are there .. get few stainless steel longer length with same size for the tank cover bolts .. the longer bolts can be used to secure diy bracket mounting on the tank like what bro solar did his diy cam bracket.

hmm...

good idea...

but i need a sample of the bolt...

Yep, I already put the screws I need in a bag to take with me to show as samples. Good idea for the tank, I wonder which type of allen key is needed for those

Speaking of which, I have a set of socket wrenches like in this picture, I use for all the screws with a hex head :

http://www.toolnet.co.za/images/34810.jpg

It's fine for most of the things I worked on for the bike, but I find it difficult to screw in the screws that go inside the Headlight and below it (Not the cross headed screws that go into the plastic assembly, the hex head bolts ones that are on the inside left and right, and the ones below (2 pairs, one to fix the head assembly and one to fix the plate holder below it).

I think at UM they use a huge T shaped socket wrench, I want one with a swivel like in the pic below, where can I find that ?

http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/graphics/images/tools/0246.jpg

I find myself opening the head assembly quite often, because I like to add accessories and try new things, and that's where I got my switch box and where I often tap for electricity. And fighting with those bolts everytime a couple of hours isn't the best feeling in the world..

1 thing is when you head to the shop selling screw, bolts, nuts you need to know what you are looking for or bring down a sample for them to have a look...

if not can try to describe to them then see if they can help you...

easyyyy..whateva u've posted here o'ren, u save in ur iphone n show e shop wad u wan..dats wad i usuali do when i duno hw to explain alrdy

That place is flooded even when it doesn't rain lol..

issit? i onli noe e road der always uneven..hmm..wad is lta doing!!! hahaha

No not yet - I'll try that when I get new screws, longer ones.

So anyone knows where i can get those ? I know sim lim is good for electrical stuff, and beach road market for velcro/bags/camping/army stuff, but where do i find hardware stores that sell all sorts of screws and bolts etc... ? A bit like sim lim equivalent but for DIY people ?

i suggest u dun get those easy to open type..ltr become target like my pouch

The truth is, you want something that will give you peace of mind and will last many many stormy days ? Get something of good quality -> expensive.

My Mustafa raincoat leaks on the right pocket, my iPhone paid the price (it's still working, but it will take weeks for the water to fully evaporate)

And I have a leak on left knee apparently too.

I've read on this thread and almost everytime on SBF people talk about raincoats, the same story: yes cheap ones can last 4-6-10 months. But they will leak pretty soon without you torturing them. And people who bought drymaster and Co, they forked out double the price or more, but 3 years later, they're still 100% dry.

I think the raincoat in Singapore is like a helmet or boots: you buy one that really does the job well, you keep it from a bike to another

e drymaster rs taichi thingy comes wif pants as well?

i have a noob question people...what is the use of the small glass window on the left side of the engine(the flywheel side)? what can we check from there? to see if it spins hahaha?

I have no idea which one is the flywheel side. But I know the small window on the side where the Oil plastic lid is, that's the window showing you your level of oil. Put the bike on main stand, front tire touching the ground. You will see oil through that window. The level of oil should sit between the two metallic indicators framing the small window.

@alvinyansg, to answer your previous question about how I got the thick handlebar brace/damper from LAB: I just asked, saying I didn't want the thin one but the thick one, and I described it. The guy who take care of it was very helpful. Call me paranoiac but I always think that people are being helpful because they want to carrot my white butt..

In any case, he disappeared behind for a long time, came back with the thing. He had to fish screws from an old screws jar so I suspect maybe he remembered he had this incomplete piece ? I didn't want to be fussy (this time), and since the price was kinda ok, I just took it.

But with LAB, you can never be sure of what to expect. One day you're lucky, one day you're chopped a bit, one day they smile, one day they barely look at you make you feel like you have nothing to do there, one day they listen to you, one day they just cut you short and tell you no,no, they don;t have even before you explained. Just very random.. I find that you have to always do your homework before going there: know the price, describe the object exactly, be very convincing like yeah I know you have it and I know the price. Things will then go well, I think they're so busy it's hard for them to be 200% which each customer so we gotta do our part too :o

Oh, reminds me, saw this guy come in for Phantom headlight bulbs. He paid $2 for 2 ! I was completely :? :? :?

Hey, if you want me to be able to say what I said to Ah Tek & you @ UM that day, I have to learn, no ? :cheeky:

Btw, about that, I think I figured out what made that "tchok tchok" plasticky sound in the front of my bike when I go down a step or on a road bump : it's the X-Vision lights that come into contact with the head fairing. They are fixed on the plate bracket, with a space of 2-3cm from the head fairing. But if there's a bump the plate bracket will have like a hiccup and the lights shell (plastic) will hit the fairing of the headlight. This is due to the fact that even if the plate bracket is tightened really well, the X-Vision lights are still a bit heavy and make it dive a bit froward. So when the bike goes down a step or a bump -> the plate bracket hiccups :)

If I hadn't spent time today opening the head of the bike to investigate other things, and if I didn't struggle to screw back some bolts, I wouldn't have noticed - that sound was driving me nuts and I knew it started after UM installed my X-Visions !

There's always a good learning when you spend time on your bike :cheeky:

Hi Guys I just got my 2nd hand Pulsar 200 a month ago but i found it to have a few problems....tried to send to my bike shop Southern Motors but they cannot rectify at all..is there any one who lives near Bukit Purmei that i can approach to help me check if there anything wrong wif my bike?or i need to send to UM for a full inspection?Sorry for the trouble as I jus passed my 2B and this is my 1st bike

Posted

Hi and welcome,

You need to tell us what are the few problems you're having with the bike so we can help..

UM is definitely where you need to go to have answers and solutions. What are the problems, and symptoms, and what did southern motors say besides they can't fix ?

How old is the bike ? Who was the previous owner, do you know or did you buy it from a shop ? How long exactly have you been riding it ?

The reason I'm asking for the owner is that we might either know him or know his bike, or it can help give you an idea of their riding style and what they used the bike for, which will tell you why you're having these issues.

I have been riding my P200 for a year and I can't say I 've had problems, but it was first hand, so what the previous owner did to your bike is key here.

If you can't wait for our feedback after you give us more details, just go to UM - best to drop there during week days, outside lunch hour and before 5pm if you can. They close at 7pm during the week.
