Its amazing how the state of the economy reflects in the motorcycle COE prices also

Few months ago, when the economy was doing really well and COE was at 2.5k, there was an article in asiaone predicting COE will touch 3.5k. Now with the Eurozone crisis looks like it will come closer to 1k. :)

Situation:

I juz replace my new spark plugs. Tested them werking by pluging one Spark plug at a tim and both at the same time. However when testing the right hand plug only, the throttling got stuck2 abit like pom......pom.......idling was ok thou. left hand and both plug testing was ok thou

Question:

izit normal for the right side to be like that? plug are new. or izit bcoz the combustion isnt comple that is why the pom...pom came out....

Left spark plug is a primary plug while Right spark plug is a secondary plug!

Primary plug fires at 350rpm and cut off at 9000rpm

Secondary plug fires at 750rpm and cut off at 6000rpm

The engine rpm limiter has been set up in the CDI

while the Ignition timing to have throttle response optimised is controlled by (TRICS III) the magnet assembly ( pic no 9) on the carburattor body and the Reed Switch Assembly from the CDI (pic no 10 )

You rode one before? :)

It's bloody expensive too, new it's about 19-20k I think. But I've read about it quite a bit and it seems to be a very reliable bike for long trips, with a decent FC for its category.

excellent choice for choosing the versys. though exp, kawasaki parts have a strong stand in malaysia. so if u want to service or change parts, go malaysia. my first choice is the versys too. but then again i told myself to stop at class 2a due to personal reason.... but who knows.... theres a malay saying "jangan cakap habis" dot .........dot ................dot .............

sound from plug or engine?

hmm tot the manual stated very clearly ... since you are using the secondary plug only to ignite, the fire is not to it's optimal timing which all the input is controlled by the microprocessor in the cdi.

in indonesia, most prides riders that mod the engine installed 2 cdi's for each plugs to have the ignition timing for better performance.

for other option, some opt to play 'tricks' with the cdi by installing the cdi reactor or piggy back. This piggy back will fool the the cdi and will 'bypass' the Reed Assembly so to supply optimal input on the ignition timing ...

hahaha .. just my thoughts and i may be wrong kekekeke

As far as I can remember the right should follow the exhaust stroke only...ie when it reach exhaust stroke it spark once only

still doesnt explain y my splug goes pom.....pom...while throttling.... i dun think i throttle till 6k rpm. ...nvm i check again later....

Think abt it...if the right spark plug only sparks on the exhaust stroke unlike the left one when it sparks

the block is filled with compressed petrol...bajajis' engineers claim that there's still unburn petrol on exhaust stroke hence the DTSi...think abt it hard n long hehehe

most 600cc have good fc..dun include the sportsbikes in. 1 ting abt kawa..parts are not readily available n are more ex..bt if u like the exclusiveness of ownin a kawa..y not :D

I don't think the parts are such a problem. Its like when people say pulsars parts are hard to get because theres only one retailer here.

Kawa parts are very easy to come by online for very decent prices actually. And you can find them in JB and other places in MY very easily too!

Ever had problems finding parts for your kawa?
