any brand of riding shoes to recommend?

thinking of maybe getting a pair of riding shoes instead os the rainshoes.

haven decided yet, have to see first.

what happened in your encounter with the barrier?

now they don't issue gortex boots for tekong intake anymore.

have to buy from emart.

My casual buang about riding shoes = SAF old old boots, the full leather ones.

Pros : Free, nice feel of shift lever through thin leather, waterproof as long as you kiwi the threads, tough. I ord-ed in '03 btw, brought the boots outa the closet nov last year to use.

Cons: everyone knows it's army boots. lace-up abit leceh, but if you always kena change parade, shouldn't be a problem :cheeky:. Mine look scruffy lam after so much use. Can get !@*#ing hot on sunny days.

For dressing up a little nicer/neater, i wear Puma Flat2 boots, can find em at Regina, around 200++ a little. Very comfy, waterproof, mid cut, lowered area behind so free-er ankle movement. very positive shift experience cuz of the nice shift pad. I find it easier to shift in these than the goretex boots.

Cons: a little low cut round the back, so better make sure your rainpants fit over them in a sitting position.

As for the barrier, i won't name places, but it's one of those kuku locations where entry barrier can squeeze, no no-m/c sign, but exit no space, so try to go out behind car. barrier came down square on the box, but i just kept the bike upright n moving straight. minor scratches on top of e box. suspect if i had leaned over, maybe would have cleared it, then again, also maybe the force of the barrier could have caused me to fall, esp if got oil or whatnot that's always near exit/entry barriers.

yes, i coulda gone out through exit, but that time still quite newbie and it was a popular location, didn't quite feel like running into incoming cars who won't give chance, then have to roll backwards down past the gap.

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

lol.. since everyone is sharing their story :D

STORY TIME!

when i first collected my bike from UM, decided to avoid the expressway since engine is running in. rode on clementi road home nice and slow at 65km/h (alrdy feels damn fast at that time.. lol).

on the way home.. i keep feeling hot little specks of stuff hitting my bare calf.. felt something amiss and upon reaching home and inspecting my bike, realise engine oil was leaking at a nut on the top of the engine. yesh.. on my first day.. lol.

so get to ride back to UM and showed them the problem.. all the way tahan the piping how specks of engine oil being spurt on my calf.. UM removed the nut and gasket goo it back and it has not given me any problems since. (seems like gasket is the answer to most engine problems) lol..

on a side note, you guys know a common problem is the cam cover there always leak? i don't understand why we need to spend $45 just to get it fixed. can't we use back the old cam cover and just gasket goo the crap back?

Lucky21 story:

My first time up the expressway is on a Christmas day, being guided by Nemesis, after fixing the hazard light. After traveling for sometime on the expressway, I parked my bike at a spot around the Mandai area and he (Nemesis) pillion me on his bike and traveled at 100km/h on SLE (If I am not wrong). I think that is the most exciting part of my life as he go in between 2 vehicle at such a fast constant speed that I am so SHOCKED!!!
