then should be a relatively fast job. as long as they have the part in their storeroom and don't have to run to their shop, hung motor. had the same prob before. but think they let the bike sit for awhile first. else too hot to work on.

just came back from UM

Mech say suspect my oil ring leaking as me to take note see how

just now ride home confirm leaking liao

a little bit of oil dripped onto my side stand there

any idea how long will they take to change?

hmm..oil ring got to do with petrol or engine oil? coz a few weeks ago i top up petrol..after i top up petrol..i move off and stop at the side to have a drink and smoke and park it side stand (top-up at JB shell right after you come out from the JB checkpoint). then i notice fuel drippin near my mainstand area..now i dont know if its due to the top-up or something else..then i go home straight..park overnight..next day when i move off..no leaking anymore..

btw that time i top-up full untill the brink..i dont know wheres the leakage..i will monitor this during my next top-up..but you guys experience this before?

I think it should be the same issue as mine, it's the fuel drainage part of the bike when overflow or something.

Somethinnnnggg like that... Just a guess xD

Maybe you can mod or "transform" the cowl >=D

the fuel tank cap area has an overflow drain tube and a breather hole. overflow is to let petrol that has been overfilled slop out and drain away, also lets low flow volume of water, aka, rainwater, to flow out. when you open the petrol cap, look on the left side of the hole, you can see a smaller hole. that one drains out through a tube to the underside of your bike. look underneath, can see a short length.

breather hole, is to let air into the petrol tank. as you use up fuel, air has to go in, else more fuel cannot come out. if you open the petrol cap, when it's facing you, look at it, should see 2 small holes.

so, what happens is that when you overfill, bike is standing upright, no problem. when bike leans to the left, the fuel cap is now below the "upright position" fuel line. so petrol will come out of the breather hole. then go down the drainage tube and exit your bike at the bottom.

this is also why, don't wash your bike with a whole load of water near the fuel cap at one time. if the drainage tube gets overwhelmed, water will rise in the "empty" area around the tank cap until it raches the breather hole. and, wallah! water in the fuel tank. which is prolly what happened to tyrtok's bike after he washed it.

 these are my personal opinions and in no way should be taken as the gospel, if anyone has different views, please do share.

here's a link which shows the pic of the tank cap, can see the small holes in the hole of the cap. in this particular pic you can see water pooling around the opening, happens when the drain tube gets choked or crimped.

it's normally quite ok, i mean, so many ppl have parked in rains w/o any problem. problems only arise if the water volume is damned high, or if the drain tube is jammed.

you can do what i've seen some uncles do. strap a piece of plastic or rubber over the tank cap area., but, typically unless it's like the bukit timah flooding rain that type, drain tube shouldn't have a prob.
