Hello everyone,

Yet another surface interval for me - I hope everyone is doing well and is still a happy pulsarian ! :)

I came back to SG last week, and the first thing I did was to... get my Pulsar !

FINALLY !!!!!! :clap::clap::clap::clap:

I am now a proud owner of a black Pulsar 200, called "Shadow" (hey, every biker is entitled to some nerdiness with their bike, I am no exception!).

Shadow is now 5 days old, and has already got her first tweaking: blind spot mirrors !

I got it at UM, with an Axa third party insurance, an HJC FG-15 full-face helmet, a Taichi Mesh Jacket and Taichi pair of gloves with knuckles protection.

All this gear is waiting for me patiently by the bike, stored in a Pacsafe Stuffsafe bag.

I will take pictures and post them here to share with you this happy event.

The bike is smoother than I expected, the engine is just a bliss, runs very smoothly, I don't have any trouble at all with the gear shifting - I know some have reported troubles getting stuck on neutral when shifting from 1st to 2nd - but for me it shifts just perfectly, as if it reads my mind :D

Oh and I changed the tires too - and I'm glad I did, with what's pouring outside these days.

I am doing the engine run by following the manual instructions to the letter, so I'm enjoying riding at slow speeds which fit me perfectly as I'm afraid of speed. The bike is extra stable, very easy to ride, very comfortable, definitely the perfect choice for a new rider. It can get a bit heavy when the tank is full, but I find that it helps me balance and control it.

Today a Ducati 848 parked next to me at work, well, my Pulsar had nothing to be ashamed of and did me very proud ! :p

I'm going to the HOV session on Sat the 10th - anyone else from our group is going ?

hi o'ren, congrat n welcome back to e team :clap::clap:

i thk e ducati owner must b speechless to see a ah mok on a india bike :giddy:

lol I don't know Cookie, nowadays stereotypes aren't what they were :)

The helmet cost me 210 (price before bargain: 260). I'm extra happy with it and I'm glad I decided to buy it: it's EXTRA LIGHT, weights litterally nothing on my head, its ventilation is amazing, and when I was at UM to get my bike, another pulsarian asked me: " Where did you get your helmet?" , I was very proud

Now that I've been doing a few kilometers with it, it is impossible for me to wear a half face helmet ! Just for the noise, a full face is a great option as it shields out most of the road noises.

Where do you get this helmet from? indeed is nice.. is that the only colours?

Motorworld at Kaki Bukit :thumb: They only have it in this design yes, but if you want to buy it online, it comes in other colors and designs. It's called FG-15 in some countries and FS-15 in others but it's the exact same model.

Glzco: nice to see all of you again too, thanks for the warm welcome :)

The helmet cost me $210.

Like mjbs said, I'm a turtle !

I am very carefull to respect the engine run speeds anyway so even if I go crazy, I never go over 65 :cheeky:

very nice helmet Oren. I would like to get one too, but ff helmets and my specs just don't agree..

There's a FF for your bread head too I'm sure ! You should investigate, different brands have very different head shapes.

Hey guys, I am thinking of getting a 2nd hand bike after I get my class 2B. I am deciding between phantom, roadwin 150 and pulsar 200.

But there is 1 thing which I totally dislike about the pulsar 200. (Refer to red circle in pic)

Is there any way to remove it? I like naked bikes, (eg S4), so I don't like the pulsar's 'head'.

And I also realised 1 thing, how come no one here seems to be wearing airbag jacket ah? I tot it is safer, but then it is damn ex I understand.

Hey Speedaddict, I checked on mine for you: there's a lock on the side panel, open it with your bike key. Then you have to (1) SLIDE the panel (2) pull it out. Be careful not to pull first, you have to slide it first (Can't remember now if it's towards the front or the back, but it slides easily so just try it).

Once you slide/pull you can remove the side panel. Now look for a small wire with a sort of a buckle end, like an "O" you can slide your fingers in to pull the wire: pulling it will dislodge the pillion seat, and you can remove it.

I hope this helps !

Hi Junjian, welcome to our beloved thread :)

Yes you can take off the head cover, if you hang around Little india a while you'll see Pulsars with naked heads. It's quite easy to do actually, I saw it done at the bike shop.

Any reason that suits you for choosing a bike is fine, but I found out now that I have mine that a Pulsar on top of offering the benefits you'll read about in this thread, the bike also provides an excellent riding experience: it's smooth, easy to ride, has a weight that actually makes it easier to maneuver (I don't know why people think that a bigger bike is more difficult to handle. Yes it's heavier but on the road it's so much better than a scooter or a Wave !).

Pulsar is a great class 2B bike, the more I ride it the more I think even if I get my class 2A, I will stick with it. (And maybe get me a Ducati Monster when I have my Class A, Trinity style!). :shades::shades:

Airbag jacket: I can think of two other reasons why people wouldn't use an airbag jacket for normal commuting riding: (a) it's not 100% convincing (b) usually they are way too hot, I haven't seen a truely mesh model yet.

The thing is, even if they do testings, reviewer are never 100% convinced an airbag jacket can perform flawlessly but then again traffic police uses it in Japan..

I'm not sure about the weight, it might be lighter to use a regular padded jacket rather than carry a small O2 tank with your jacket..
