why would u wanna remove such a lovely thing? it can be done. price im not sure.. saw a pulsar with alien head..

Haha, cos I like SB4, so the pulsar's default head is quite a turn-off for me. If the Dealim Roadwin 150 can perform like the pulsar(eg. fc etc), I would definately get the Roadwin 150 instead.

Hi Junjian, welcome to our beloved thread :)

Yes you can take off the head cover, if you hang around Little india a while you'll see Pulsars with naked heads. It's quite easy to do actually, I saw it done at the bike shop.

Any reason that suits you for choosing a bike is fine, but I found out now that I have mine that a Pulsar on top of offering the benefits you'll read about in this thread, the bike also provides an excellent riding experience: it's smooth, easy to ride, has a weight that actually makes it easier to maneuver (I don't know why people think that a bigger bike is more difficult to handle. Yes it's heavier but on the road it's so much better than a scooter or a Wave !).

Pulsar is a great class 2B bike, the more I ride it the more I think even if I get my class 2A, I will stick with it. (And maybe get me a Ducati Monster when I have my Class A, Trinity style!). :shades::shades:

Airbag jacket: I can think of two other reasons why people wouldn't use an airbag jacket for normal commuting riding: (a) it's not 100% convincing (b) usually they are way too hot, I haven't seen a truely mesh model yet.

The thing is, even if they do testings, reviewer are never 100% convinced an airbag jacket can perform flawlessly but then again traffic police uses it in Japan..

I'm not sure about the weight, it might be lighter to use a regular padded jacket rather than carry a small O2 tank with your jacket..

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am choosing between this 3 bikes.

Phantom TA200

Pulsar 200

Roadwin 150.

I will be using it for my uni transportation which starts in 2011. So now just started my bike lesson. First lesson on sat! Lol. But I got car license for 3 years liao. So I am not so worried about the bike pract. It is more of getting used to riding a bike.

I choose these 3 bikes cos,

Phantom TA200 (easy to maintain)

Pulsar 200 (ridiculously good fc)

Roadwin 150 (like the design)

I am getting a 2nd hand btw. Ultimate aim is CB400.

Regarding airbag jacket, cos I saw this youtube video of this guy testing the airbag jacket. Works like a charm man. If I wear it, my parents might feel better about me riding a bike.

im not going to touch on daelim n phantom.

in sg, to put it in simple terms, pulsar is a very gd bike bcos of d freaking gd fc. it cannot run as fast as other bikes. maintainence wise, if ur refering to basic n minor things, den its ok. spare parts for pulsar? un4tunately on one agent ....UM. for u, if u just wana use for transport, den pulsar is d one for u. but up 2 u la. concentrate on ur lessons first.

Say O'ren, where'd you get the stuffsafe from? Locally or overseas?

Been looking at it for use as a gearbag for the longest time ever.

At the moment still using a MasterLock Python to chain my FF to pillion grab bar. Ultimately thinking of switching to the stuffsafe for weatherproofing.

Is the mesh integral with the bag material itself? As in attached at different points. Or is it a seperate piece entirely?

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

if you just want to hold your helemt maybe the lidsafe is a better option

but if you want to contain all your stuff then stuffsafe will be the choice i guess

you can change the pulsar head to a S4 headlight

but with the digital speedo it might not look as nice as the UG 2(Analog Speedo) with the S4 headlight

2nd hand P200 abit difficult to find on the market

most 2nd hand are P180

pulsar is also quite a low maintainance bike if you take care of it well and don't have major problems with the engine

Hey guys, I am thinking of getting a 2nd hand bike after I get my class 2B. I am deciding between phantom, roadwin 150 and pulsar 200.

But there is 1 thing which I totally dislike about the pulsar 200. (Refer to red circle in pic)

Is there any way to remove it? I like naked bikes, (eg S4), so I don't like the pulsar's 'head'.

And I also realised 1 thing, how come no one here seems to be wearing airbag jacket ah? I tot it is safer, but then it is damn ex I understand.

Wahaha.. eh we got same taste.. Lolss. Dream bike also S4.. Den i also feel pulsar head not very nice... haha but i havent have a pulsar yet.. Lolss. waiting for my teee peee..

Class 3 - 29 May 2009

Class 2B -10 May 2010

Class 2A - 30 June 2011

2010-2011 Phantom 150

2011- Now GSR400

Haha, I going for my first pract on sat. Need to familiarise with handling a bike. Road I am not worried cos I got car license long ago.

Yes, it will help to understand the traffic rules but that's about it. Don't expect your car driving experience to serve you AT ALL when riding a bike, there's nothing in common between the two - and I'm not talking about the obvious bike vs car, I'm talking about what you need to be aware of on the road, how to ride, the specific rules and behaviors that come with riding a bike... you'll see, at first you'll ride like a driver, then you'll realize riding is a complete different world from driving :) Oh and don't underestimate the part played by the handling of the bike: it is in fact the decisive part in your learning: the better your control and grasp of the bike, the more comfortable your riding will be. Don't worry, if you like riding you'll learn easily :)

price also not bad hehehe .. $260 or $280

(sorry my eyes not so good .. old man haha)

not water proof but with rain cover .. 2 models but this model can expand

I saw it yesterday - dropped by motoworld at Lavender, thanks mjbs for the advice on location :thumb: I found these saddle bags very bulky actually and they are made of a rigid outershell, so i guess if you're looking for space when traveling and resistant meterial, it seems to fit the bill. But for the everyday SG commuting I thought it was too big.

I am looking for a solution to carry things - I don't want a box because it kills the bike's style :nono:

The main reason I need some sort of storage space is to bring back food home ! :cheeky:

About the Stuffsafe bag from Pacsafe: I bought it here in SG at Sports Connection @ Shaw Leisure Gallery on Beach road. It cost me $115 . They retail the Safelid for helmets at $119.

The stuffsafe comes with 3 parts:

(a) Outer net made of steel, to enclose the bag inside and secure it

(b) waterproof 80L bag

© Storage "pouch" used to roll the two items above in and store easily.

I don't use © at all: I roll the net in the waterproof bag and put that inside my small messenger bag. When I get to my parking location, I open the waterproof bag, and throw inside: 2 jackets with all their protective pads, 2 helmets, 2 pairs of gloves, 1 pair of knee guards - and there's still space left in the bag for at least another set of gear !!!:thumb:

Then I put the waterproof bag inside the steel net, lock it with the wire provided to the bike: I usually lock it to the crash bar + front wheel.

The Stuffsafe bag comes with a padlock: it looks small but it's solid and I think more than enough to do the job. Afterall, there is no 100% safe solution to leave the gear by the bike, but I think the look of the bag, all the wiring and steel, as well as the fact that if you lock it on the ground close to the front wheel it's discreet, all this makes it a good alternative to carrying 2 tons of gear around the mall.

I now need a bike cover and I'll have a look at the alarm mjbs spotted on the forum. I will not let thieves get my dear bike ! :box:

I couldn't agree more, yesterday I'm at a stop line in a small junction between two lanes. A lorry is coming from my right, slows down like he's gonna turn left before crossing in front of me, but there's no signal lights so I decide to wait to see what he does. And of course, he crosses. Right before he does, the car behind me starts horning at me - the driver thought the lorry would turn so why am I not proceeding.

When he saw the lorry going straight, he looked away trying to avoid making eye contact with me who turned around and was about to pick a fight. I seriously considered getting out of the bike and start something. I am not a patient person, I try to be, but this kind of behavior just drives me mad: would it kill the driver to WAIT TWO SECONDS ?! he's adding to his stress, and stressing me too, no one likes to be horned at (and he scared me with the sound ).

I've been only riding for a week but I've already seen more than my share: people cutting in front of me, drivers who do the opposite of what their signals say, oh and of course, Little India is the pedestrians Sarajevo: they can walk against traffic in the middle of the road, looking at you riding towards them, and expecting you to stop or let them pass ! :gun::gun::gun::gun:

But despite that, it's a very good learning experience for me, I can't wait to go to the HOV sessions, and improve my riding (and maybe become a bit more patient and tolerant myself :cheeky::cheeky:)
