It's been raining during evening rush hour almost every day. Sending out a gentle reminder to be extra careful when riding during this timing.

Just had a near-accident when I was lane-splitting during jam and a car decided to make an abrupt lane change without signalling. My worse nightmare :(. Thankfully there was enough space for me to swerve.

Is the RS Taichi jacket 2 PCs @ $250 worth it? I may consider getting one, if someone else can also tag along with me :cheeky:

thanks alvin .. pmed them already and waiting for their reply

revhappy .... for a rs taichi model to have at price $150 surely it's worth. If $125 from $250 ... where can get that price to have a cool, light, comfortable and protected with amour some more. And it's a washable and with removal armored. Since it's light also, it's easy to keep in your box or bagpack. For Waterproof thingy, just get a simple light but x large size rain coat to make it as an over coat on your mesh jacket... it will make you more confidence when riding in the rain. hehehehe

And btw too, all rs taichi jacket include accessories button to opt for more protection in future ... like chest protection while the removable back, elbow and shoulder armor can upgrade to better armour padding if needs too.

Thanks MJ, Now I am waiting for someone to join me so that we can make use of the offer. Come on guys, who wants to join? :)

I'm in, but need to go down there some day to look at the jacket and also see if they have sizes small enough for me!

good deal man

i also looking to get a mesh but now low on vit M

now seriously considering should dig into reserve or not...

if not i wait till nearer to xmas day hope offer still on

GOPRO HD MOTORSPORTS CAMERA : Online, the best price I found is Amazon, US $235 (S $311) Now at US $240 (S $318) Official price in all other websites is US $299.

The shipping for it with VPost is SGD $24. So if local prices are more than 318+24=S$342, then it's best to buy online. Takes 10days to arrive.

@Alvin : what website are you talking about that has no stock? Is it a local reseller or overseas?

@MJ: what's the price Motoworld quoted you?

Bro, just a suggestion - why don't we leave a bit earlier, like 2-4 a.m. so that we can cover most of the distance before sunrise and avoid boiling? I know everyone will be working on Friday, but maybe can try getting some early rest. Just a suggestion if people want to consider, I'm in either way.

Problem with that is we'd be riding mostly at night. Pulsars don't have good enough headlights to ride at night, especially if it's pitch black like it usually in in MY. So we'd have to ride slowly, and I don't know if it's safe to ride the Malaysian highway in convoy at night with poor lights on the bike. Plus, we'd need in that case very reflective bikers at the back and in the formation to make our convoy more visible. To be honest I completely agree with your point on heat and getting there early, but I'm also concerned on how confident we are that as a group we can ride such a long distance by night ?

This made me think about it and I have some suggestion for this trip:

1. We make it mandatory for people to wear protective clothes and gear. Just hear me out before you throw rocks at me ! :D

Those who don't have can maybe invest in something, at least one piece of something may it be gloves or knee guards, or ask others who are not coming to lend them their gear. I know some of you will think I am being too extreme here, but if anything happens to someone who's not protected I will feel very bad and I will feel like I should've said something. Gaban, I think as an organizer it is your right to say you want people to be protected and to not just encourage them to be so, but also to make sure they come with the right attire. Like I said, at least please make an effort ! If you make the effort, it's a step towards real safety that you are taking.

2. We make sure everyone knows how to ride in convoy formation and how to behave on the road. I know no one likes to lecture or come across as someone very rigid and annoying, but again, this is for our safety. So no stunts on the roads, no taking over anyhow anyway, no sticking to each others like sardines, no riding side by side unless at traffic light stop, no hesitation to pull over if you think you need rest or just want to check something on the bike or to change something in your gear, and no hesitation to slow down if you think the convoy is going too fast for you. All these very obvious "rules" are in fact simple things that will make our ride enjoyable and more fun ! Of course we will all learn on this trip so we don't have to be 100% on top of all the details, but some of us might have never been riding at night before, or on the highway, and it could be good to talk about all this.

3. We need at least two bikes with roaming in MY to be able to call each other if separated and make sure these bikes are at the lead and at the back of the convoy. Make sure everyone knows what to do in case they are cut from the rest of the convoy (vehicles overtaking them and slipping in the convoy line, or traffic light cutting them off or simply lost the bike they were following and not sure what to do). Also it's everyone's responsibility to have a look at the itinerary Gaban has prepared for us and familiarize yourself with the maps so you feel confident if lost that you know at least which way to head to. Of course, no one is gonna leave you lost, the second we see we are missing someone everyone will come and look for you so i don;t think it will happen, but if you study the route a bit you will feel better following everyone, trust me :thumb:

4. Maybe agree on a buddy system where we put an experienced rider possibly in charge of newbies: Someone who will be confident to wait for bikes that are late/lost a bit, or to help guide other bikes. If we have the experienced drivers all in the front and then only newbies behind, not so nice. Usually I think we already do things right quite naturally, like last time Lanzer was at the back while Gaban leading so that works well, but maybe if we have a bigger group this time we want to make sure newbies are looked after.

5. Everyone to carry an emergency information card. I will share with you guys this week the template I use for mine. Just started working on it. I intend to always have this card with me when I ride overseas. It will have info on who/how to contact my relatives, my blood type, IC/Passport number, etc etc. Any info that might be needed by medical emergency teams or by fellow riders if they want to help you. A piece of paper is enough, doesn't have to be fancy.

6. Everyone to carry spare key of their bike, spare spark plugs, all bike documents like Gaban said, and make sure that between all bikes we have enough tools to do some quick repairs if needed :)

1. Agreed

2. Obviously Agreed

3. Must Have - For this actually I suggest getting local Malaysia prepaids. They cost around 10 MYR if I remember right, and another 15 MYR for a week of unlimited data usage or 5 MYR for a day of unlimited data usage. Anyways, I have 1 and my guess is Gaban would have another and some other people might also have, and then we can use iphone GPS as well IF we are lost.

4. My guess is the leader of the pack, Gaban, would arrange people accordingly.

5. Doesn't hurt - why not.

6. Must have, I have a long checklist that I prepared for Cameron that I can share.

7. Does anyone have any basic medical skills that can carry along the first-aid kit?

8. For the timing, I personally would prefer risking 2 hours of night riding than reduced focus after the heat of the afternoon. I personally believe that the highway is safe and the reflectors+10 bikes is enough light. But, its a group decision to make.

3. We don't need a data plan to use the GPS on the iPhone :) Mine works without a sim card even. And I've just installed a USB charger on Shadow so I can keep it charged all the time so no running out of battery when we need it the most.

7. I still have to take my official emergency aid courses, but I have a little bit of experience dealing with patients so I know the basics about how to handle someone injured. I'm not afraid of injuries regardless how bad they are (I think !).
