Looks like you're no stranger to riding so it should be pretty much the same for everything ;) Maybe just note the difference in posture and size.

what about the speed? is it recommended to travel at high speed for shadow? will travelling at such speed affect the future performance of the bike?

you got a brand new shadow? ride it slow and easy, that's what shadow is all about, it's not for speed, believe it or not... saloon car is not a sports car, but still most people do that, push to see the limit of a saloon.....

Hi all,

May I inquire a few questions? What's the FC of a shadow 400? Is the maintenance high? What's the general price of a 2nd hand Shadow now? And what's the comfortable speed (is 140kmh comfortable)

Thanks in advance, cos I'm really tied between getting a chopper and a naked bike.

Cheers to shadow.

About 22-24km/l and above depending on condition.

Maintenance is about the same for all class 2A bikes. Standard oils and plugs.

2nd hand Shadow can range from +/- 3k and above again depending on age and condition.

120km/h is quite comfortable. Can go 140km/h if your engine's maintained well and you hoot the bugger. hahaha.

Chopper or naked bike. Well depends if you wanna cruise or street fight. That should help a bit :) Of course you can street fight with a cruiser but that's a different story altogether. heh

Oh great, most of the things fits the criteria I'm looking for... Except the speed. Cos I'll definitely need some reserved speed to out-run those tailgating sport cars. But if 120 is very comfortable, and 140 is acheivable, then that's definitely good enough.

Thanks for the great reply plastics. Deeply appreciated. :thumb:

If you wanna do some out running then I'd advise against a Shadow. After all, it's still a cruiser. It's meant to move to the side if tailgaters come, not out run them. Gentle soul a bit. Let them pass and look cool while riding instead of giving them the evil eye then riding off while they stare at your butt.

If you wanna get something that will give you a quick getaway. Super 4 is the most common already. Something faster then I guess one of those sports bikes. RVF and all that sorts. Sorry I not very well versed in sports bike. Though I must say I wouldn't mind owning a R1 or R6 or Ninja just for the fun of it. heh.

Oh apologies if i gave you a wrong impression. When i say out-run those tailgaters, I mean by speeding up a bit, lane change and let them pass. No a single bit of idea about really lacing with them. I'm quite close to 30 already. So a bit on the conservative side. Thanks a lot for the informative suggestion.

no worries :) We always get wrong impressions. It won't be a problem la. Actually, with the Shadow, as long as your engine and everything is well maintained, you can actually have some fun lacing with them. Just pick your right targets. heh. V twin engines tend to give you pretty good torque and you can even play with a bit of off roading ;) Just that the Shadow is a tad heavy. Can sold that by chopping some parts up and viola! Street Fighter Turbo! Ask X-lied for that. :p

If you like, do join some of us for our Friday meet ups. PM me and I'll give you the time and location. Most of us were ex-Shadow riders and can probably share some stories with you. :)

i have riding shadow and super 4. super 4 has smooth engine. never experience vibration before. shadow in other has vibrate a lot on certain speed. mine is around 85km/h to less than 100km/h. the vibration is due to our V engine.
