'97 Shadow ace.. 150 on phantom??? My bro's phantom can only hit 120 max... no pillion

YUp... i ever did 135km/hr on my phantom meter ( meaning around 120km/hr on shadow meter)

for a short while only as the vibrations kills... Did that on NSHW...

My Shadow is 400cc and I max at 120km/h too.

IMHO, if I ever wanted to go faster, I'd buy a bigger Shadow (750/1100cc).

Cruisers are for cruising, bro.

Yup... cruisers are meant for cruising.. Not speeding.. Good cruising speeed around 110-120km/hr will do...

so fast for what. not as i'm rushing to catch a bullet train ;DD

Sure sure, but if go to the country, you wanna cruise at 140 or 150 isn't it?

In that case, Shadow400 is probably not the right bike for you. You'll need the 750 or the 1100.

The burger meal sounds awesome! Dunno, I just got the bike.. sorry bros, the reason why I ask is not because I want to speed.. I used to ride a GSXF 750, first time I own a cruiser, before the shadow, I rode my broinlaw phantom which max is 120. So whn I got a 400cc shadow I thought it would go higher, which I tried late one night, but it only max at 120.. was wondering if there's anything wrong with the engine, cos I intend to ride to Malaysia... btw.. mileage is 97000ks

Sevendust: Wanna ask where you bring ur shadow for service and checkup?

i believe phantom meter n shadow meter will be different... on phantom it may seem to show 120km/hr, but u have to minus off about 15%-20% cause e meter is not accurate... for shadow, i believe e meter is quite accurate, showing almost ur actual speed... :)

try drag ur gear 4 to higher speeds before changing to gear 5 if you want to reach higher max speed. But it will be bad for ur engine. Suggest you to service ur bike cuz alot of shadowers claimed their engine performance increased significantly after servicing. :)

Phantom is a nice bike that many things can be mod. However, i do have bad experience with the performance of mine last time, it is very comfortable at the speed below 90km/hr, but after that, funny sound and serious vibration start to come in. The vibration really cause my butt to itch. Max speed i tried before is 140km/hr at Nicholl Highway with pillion, but it really vibrate alot. After that I switch to Shadow400, which shows a significantly improve in the engine strength. So far I tried 140km/hr with pillion but still havent full throttle yet. Shadow is a great bike, very comfortable at cruising speed. Although pick up is slow, what can you expect for a 400cc cruise bike? :)

See u still can hit 140.. I tried just now, without pillion max is 130, inlcuding dragging 4th gear.. anyways.. thanks to all the bros for your advices, I think I gonna send it to Rosli to check and service. Do anyone of you know when is the best day to go? Not so crowded. Also, how long does he take?

Looks cool....... but I think the curve is not very friendly for the exit air to flow out. Not sure of the performance though but looks nice.

Anyone knows where to get this gear shift?

Agree. It's also nice to know the quality of the material they use.

Does anyone add any special liquid to the petrol to improve the bike performance? Seen some oil that people add to the petrol to improve/clean the fuel system.

It's called additives.. not good for bikes..

In that case, Shadow400 is probably not the right bike for you. You'll need the 750 or the 1100.

The Shadow Aero 750 has the same power as a Toyota Corolla. So if you're happy with it, then it's better. Otherwise, there isn't much difference between the Shadow 400 and Shadow 750.

Sure sure, but if go to the country, you wanna cruise at 140 or 150 isn't it?

I'll still cruise at 110 and below.

If you're referring to the fender tip from National Cycle in the US. They are also bolted on but from under the fender so you don't see it.

I can't recall seeing any other brand of fender tip on the internet that's glued on.

This is the National Cycle fender tip. Very nice. Classy but super expensive.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/jim3553/My%20Shadow%20ACE/My%20Wish%20List/frontfendertips.jpg

Mine came from Easyriders in Japan. The bolts are on front. And it's way cheaper too.

National Cycle fender tips are nice but expensive. Was told it matches black than any other colour, but I think it's subjective 'cos it looks good on yours :thumb:

I had my new fabricator make me a new fender tip.

This time, It looks better. More solid. I like it. :thumb:

I installed the old one in the rear of the front fender. Worked well too.
