buying an st1100 from a bike shop , is this deal worth it ???

hi there people , late been looking for an st1100 and asked my friend to ask his motortiam and he replied this to me. i dunno wheather is it a good buy for the specs and the package ??? thanks brothers !

hey bro..my bikeshop hav a yr 2000 blue Honda ST1100. Only have 1 ex-owner. Good condition with low mileage. current COE left 2yrs. But the bikeshop is selling at $9800, which includes COE extension for another 10yrs. This will mean that you will spend $9800 for 12yrs..yearly only cost $850. I guess this is so far the best deal. The bikeshop allows u to test ride.

 

 

i have ask the bikeshop to do a rough calculation for you.. If u load 4yrs, with $1000 downpayment, ur monthly instalment sum will be $250, Hey, ur phantom sure worth more than $1000 if you were to trade in. That will mean the mthly instalment maybe even cheaper if u trade-in. On top of that.. if u can top up cash downpayment..that will further pull down ur instalment sum, which will less burden.

 

Bro.. consider.. i'm going to the bikeshop tmr to collect my commuter bike. if u keen, we can go take a look at the ST1100. Let the pro talk to you. If u think it's really good deal, can ask bikeshop to reserve for you. If u r trading-in, u no need to worry abt downpayment at all. Why not take a look and try out the bike too..

and also should i sell my phantom off in the forums or just forget the hassle and trade in to the bike shop. the good thing about my phantom is that the bike is a work horse. never ever failed on me once and also i never even had an accident or fell on it ( ok i ride very slow lol ) . so i think its worth at least 1.5 k in the market right ??? ( with side boxes and back box )

my st1100 will used as normal commuting and also to tour to malaysia and thailand , so yes can definately say that i will be fulling utilising this bike in singapore and malaysia. so i will only have 1 bike only

Hi,

 

A 8 year old ST1100 should not cost more than $7000 without COE. You can do your sums and see if $9800 is a reasonable price with a 10 yr COE extension included.

 

The most important about about buying a Class 2 bike is always about the condition. Things to look out for when buying a used ST1100 include:

 

1, Front brake calliper lock, it is quite common on the ST1100, will take about $150 to change pad and pots.

 

2, Tensioner chain replacement, for this you'll have to take the engine apart and see for yourself.

 

3, Rear swingarm corrosion. I have not experienced this before but then seems like it is common to aged ST1100s.

 

I used to ride a 7 year old ST1100, and it was good. Easy on maintenance compared to other makes. I would not have let go of the bike if not an overseas posting.

 

But, if I were you, I would go to GOPA at AMK and buy a used ST1100 from him. He used to ride a ST1100, I am not sure if he is still riding an ST1100 now. He can help look out for you, and you can be sure that the bike is problem-free.

COE extented 10 years means only 10 year left.. not 12 years eventhough it has 2 years left. check onemotoring for detail.
