I m driving 1 van but as private usage. (register as a van)

A Normal Van need a company to register then u can purchase it.

What we usually do is place a sofa at the rear cargo , then it will look like private car.

still, there is 2 choice.

1) Buy a van but register as a car

- Pay Car COE

- Run Petrol

- normal car road tax depend on CC (between 1.3 to 1.9)

- insurance more expensive then register as a van

- Come with seat at the back when u purchase it.

- 5 or 7 seater.

- Entry to Malaysia

2) Buy a van still register as a normal van

- Pay Commerical COE (now also expensive)

- Run Desiel

- $500 Road Tax very Year no matter what cc

- Insurance should be cheaper than register as car.

- empty at the rear cargo (buy your own sofa if u wanna ferry ppl)

- No Entry to malaysia

i agree. imagine a 1.9L renault trafic being able to clock 13km per litre of diesel

thats very good. for combo owners, some are able to achieve 17km/l of diesel easily

No more regrets.

but speed limit 70km/h only :faint: :faint: :faint:

if it is for transport purpose, 70 is more than sufficient to travel from point A to point B. Of course this applies to small country like Singapore.

If you need a fast vehicle, get a camy 2.4. In my view it is of the good stable car. 10 years loan will solve any financial issue.

i'm driving a Renault Kangoo.. it's relatively cheap compared to cars, but u must reg before u can go M;sia..

But once again, Diesel is $1.8 per litre already...:(

Rd tax is more, insurance also.......

diesle prices has been hitting the roofs in recent times...darn..

but 1 thing for sure...diesel consumption will alway be better than petrol due to the make up of the engine..compression vs ignition.

i drive a 4 year old combo..and im still getting 16km to the litre...used to be 18km when it was 2.5 years old..

i believe when my EDU & fuel pipes are changed..my consumption will improve again.

what i think is ppl asking more is that can van be registered with "private" plate as in starting with SXX???

i ever saw on the road those kangoo type vans that have Sxx plate. also TAXI (the vito one look like van) also carry Sxx plate ryte?

im wonderng whether vans such as toyota Hiace or renault trafic can put private plate or not? anyone see on the road?

the van like suzuki every is too small for my liking, i like at least those vans like toyota hiace or renault traffic or the scudo (dunno what brand)

anyone has experience with this?

help/ advise appreciated..

It all comes down to the configuration of the vehicle.

If the vehicle is configured as a Goods Vehicle "GV" , then it can't be registered as a Private Vehicle "PV". Same likewise for Private Vehicle.

For example, a Land Rover Defender cannot be registered as a PV, and likewise you cannot register a Land Rover Range Rover as a GV.

There are some vehicles here whereby the same model, such as Citroen Berlingo, offers either the Private Vehicle, and Goods Vehicle configuration. Then you have to register the vehicle according to its configuration.

is there a list where i can check the vehicle configurations for Singapore roads?

but example Fiat doblo is normally i see all GV but Fiat panaroma normally PV but both models look very similar..

is there such thing as PV must be petrol driven and GV can be either?

any help on info much appreciated...

Palmer i think Limbat ever got try but in the end he give up cos he find not worth it...

any idea how to register to go msia?

i did ask b4 a guy who is below my office.

1.need to set up a company in malaysia(partner will have to be a muslim malay) and to show this GV is for business use.

2.need to pay malaysia road tax yearly

a lot of ppl in singapore just drive in without any papers doc.see many driving around in jb.seen a few singapore trafic in muar.

sg custom will not care.

only malaysia jpj will catch you.(same pattern kopi kopi)

they will ask you for the cert etc.if no kanna summon.

timing is also the key.go in rush hour.
