Hi all, I am planning to do up a set of H4 headlight relay kit for my bike. However I have some difficulties in getting some of the parts and would be very appreciated if any brothers or sistas here can tell me where to get the parts.

1) H4 plug or connector

2) Fuse Holder

3) Bosch 5-pin Relay

(Should I get a 20A or 30A to relay 55W bulb?)

4) Wire holder

Thanks a lot. I am looking for the listed parts only, the rest I'd already got hold of them. Will try looking for it at SL tower.

Anybody know where can I get the H4 connector from??

Limbat has all the items you need. for the relay, it usually comes as 30A rated. anyway it doesnt really matter if its 20A or 30A since u already have a fuse. probably have to place the 10Amp fuse (typically, a halogen bulb draws about 6.5Amp of current) b4 the relay

Alex, so free ah? Ok how about wed noon like that?

Hmmz, 6.5A? Actally I'm intending to use a 55/60W halogen H4. Because CBR4 OEM switch comes in 35/60W, so I intending to do up relay for the low beam as well as the high beam.

My bike got 2 headlights, thus

low beam = 55W * 2 / 12V = 9.16A

high beam = 60W * 2 / 12V = 10A

Do I need 10A or 15A fuse each for low beam, and for high beam.

Please correct me me if there's anthing wrong.

Think I going to try the Cheepo.. sounds cheap.. so I think I will take that.

10amp fuse is enuff........... if u doing a new wire harness - go for the H4 12 100/90watt much brighter ............... laaaaaaaaaaa

Yup, doing new wire harness. I wanted to use 100/90, but I did came across articles and feedback from fellow cbr rider that the bulb holder for my bike model will not able to withstand the heat generated, and will melt the holder. That's my worries. But I believe there's a way to overcome this. haa

sure maaa - use thicker wire & ceramic holder - cannot burn 1 ........... heee heeee - anyway since it is a new wire harness not so easy to burn laaaaa

it's not the wire and the h4 connector which I am worry about, it's the holder which the h4 connector is fixed to. It's the part which reflect the light area. It's plastic. =(

Oh **** ..............really arrr then better play safe use 60/55watt ................. original rating is 12v 60/55watt right ?

OEM is 60/35W for my bike model.

It's pretty crappy..

hey i did my DIY relay kit but the fuse melt if u put 10a/20a. i put 30amp and doing good but the relay died. perhaps my relay is the cheapo bosch relays.

but the harness kit i bought frm u made in korea is really good. u shud intro to bikers. cheap and gd upgrade for our headlights. but i stick to 60/55w. able to put 100/90w but play safe not to melt the casing or bulb holder.

Pls also note the H4 12v 60/35w has a different mounting base from the H4 12v60/55watt - the 2 lower legs are wider at 65 degree.

Fuses dun melt mate - they blow to protect your wire harness .... Cheers

Theoretically it shld draw around 4.6amp for a 12V 55watt halogen bulb. but when measured, i saw the reading to be 6.5amp.

for your case, 2 bulbs within a single wiring harness would mean u need to double up your fuse rating. probably a 15A fuse will do the job.

if no fuse is used, any short circuit occurring, your independent wiring harness u have built yourself will be burnt. so its safer to have a fuse

U mean the bulb legs?

I might not get what you mean. But right now, it is fitted with a pair 55/60W headlight. Maybe the connector might had been changed by previous owner. But I don't think I will want switch on to the low beam headlight, unless I installed the relay.

Models of CBR400 with pole lights use the same special H4 bulbs as RVF. There are 3 legs

1. +ve for low beam

2. +ve for hi beam

3. -ve for both hi and low

the centre one is +ve for low and right one is -ve for both (if i remembered correctly). For H4 35/60, the left leg (+ve for hi beam) and right leg (-ve for both) is angled further away from each other and hence will not fit a standard H4 bulb holder.

For H4 55/60, the left and right legs are positioned nearer to each other.

As such, most owners of RVF and certain CBR400 bend the leg of a H4 55/60 bulb to fit into their bulb holder meant for H4 35/60.

For your case, it could be using a standard H4 55/60 bulb holder or your H4 55/60 bulb has been bent. maybe u can have it checked

There is another type of H4 bulb. Its H4S. but it is rated 12V 35/35watt. its mounting is also the same as standard 55/60 H4 bulbs.

eg of bike fitted with H4S bulb is Bajaj Pulsar. As such,if a standard H4 55/60watt bulb is installed in pulsar, the headlamp reflector will melt as too much heat is produced.

No more regrets.

sorry its the 10 and 20 amp blow.

the 30 amp didnt blow but melt. i duno wads wrong wif my circuit but probably due to the high current. but why cant fuse melt? poor plastic quality can deform it due to heat too.

i came ur shop juz to get the h4 connector and the relay and asked advice frm u regarding my diy fuse melt and relay spoilt.

the fuse for the headlight is how many amp?? 30 amp rite? maybe fuse cant withstand the heat but the metal piece can withstand up to 30 amp and is low quality fuse dats y it melt. then why there are diff prices for the fuse? quality wise rite??
