there are couple of ways where you can break in your bike.

there are the hard running in and the normal one..

so, it really depends on you.

if you plan on just doing the normal one..

just stick to below 100km/h..

but ensure that you get to the appropriate rpm before shifting up your gear..

do lots and lots of engine braking also..

changing of eo depends on yourself too..

use mineral oil during your running in period..

the more times you change your eo during running in, the better.

as it will help in eliminating the metal debris in your engine.

dont forget your oil filter change too.

running in last for 1600km.

after which you should then change to a fully syn eo.

try reading your manual..

it helps too.

enjoy the zee!

My advise? Follow your owner's manual word by word.

And a tip for you: Try not to ride too much on the highways, its not too good just running on a constant speed, rpm and on your highest gear itself. Don't skimp on mineral engine oil. Frequent change helps to flush out those bits and pieces you can't really see.

from wat i read........

hard running most importance is the first 30 km..... so after 500km whether hard or not it is the same.... as soft running....

Hard run in. Proven. I run in all my bikes on the race track.

Did it on my CBR1000RR, 06 DRZ400SM and the 07 DRZ400SM.

And again when I big bored the block on the 07 SM.

Read and learn. Knowledge is power. Don't let people fool you with the myth of running in a new machine.

Here's how to do it...

the other alternative is to run it in on a dyno machine first.

pls do not follow the manual unless you want your newly bought bike to feel like crap after running in. Follow the motorman's hard run-in, do a search on google, you'll find it.

I have a friend that did it the way the motorman did, and his DRZ feels uber great!

why do u say that? which method did u do? i mean, did you do a side by side comparison of manual run in compared to hard run in to claim which method resulted in a 'uber' drz? or was it all hearsay here hearsay there?
