Great write up n ride..how did u manage to cross over to Cambodia?

The usual, clear immigration & custom from Thailand then cross over (20m open area) to Cambodia immigration to fill up arrival card & chop passport. Cross from the O'smach border, simple, no ho-uh.

I was told that big bikes are no longer allowed to enter...

 

I’ve read conflicting reports about taking a foreign-registered motorcycle into the Angkor Archaeological Park grounds online – some say can, many say cannot; some say it needs to have a Cambodian registration plate; some say it needs to have a Cambodian driver, and even tourists on a Cambodian-registered rental cannot get in; and some say that “big bikes” cannot go in, only “small bikes” can. I tried asking the hotel staff about it, and they too mentioned about the “big bike cannot” and “foreigners cannot” ride inside the park.

 

All seem to be mere rumors. Anyway, I was there earlier this year too:

U mean Ang Kor Wat? I was told we can ride ard, park where the rest vehicle park, but not into it. Anyway we opt for Tutu instead, get 2 days break from riding. Arranged with hotel to bao the Tutu from 0430-1600 for only USD12. I m sure u can get better rate if u arrange privately, bypassing the hotel.

Day 8 - En-route to Bankrut

 

Brekky in Songphanburi hotel

 

Had a minor accident along the way leaving some scratches on the bottom of left box. Road was under construction, covered with sand & gravel, rear tire lost traction & bike fell onto the left side & glides for ~20m before coming to a halt.

That's all folks, we r safely back in SG on 3 Dec. Taking a break & will start planning for our next trip after new year.

Thks bro. I have my restrictions, especially dates, when planning for trips so I will usually do my own planning after which I do sent out open invitations for any1 riding or driving to travel with me 😀

Discussed with wifey & we have decided to do Myanmar 18 mths later in Jun 2018. This time rd we wish to gather more folks, ride or drive, as we alone can’t really carry much with us for the kids over there. We will be looking at bringing some shoes / slippers. We will begin our planning only after CNY 2017, if u have any infor or lobang on road trip to Myanmar, will appreciate much if u can share with us.

Hahah. When I was in Pnom Penh, I fixed all the scratched up parts from my drop in Laos. Cost of parts there are so much cheaper than in Singapore.

This time rd we wish to gather more folks, ride or drive, as we alone can’t really carry much with us for the kids over there. We will be looking at bringing some shoes / slippers. Good luck! Sounds like a plan! I do hope that Myanmar will have opened up by then. As of 01Dec2016, Singapore passport holders no longer need to apply for visa to enter Myanmar. But I've heard that a local guide / escort is still required. Burma Senses is one of the recommended companies in Myanmar that help organize such tours. Google them up if / when you need them.
